.Senior Legal & Compliance Counsel, EMEA Fortinet, a global leader in Cybersecurity, is recruiting a Senior Legal & Compliance Counsel for EMEA. This position is for somebody with 8-12 years' experience in a law firm or in-house. Based in Madrid, Spain, the position offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of contractual and compliance matters, manage legal advice for the business across all European countries, and be an integral part of business decisions and the growth of the business. The position will report to the Senior Vice President, Legal & Compliance, International and will be part of a small but effective team of lawyers. The role is part of a team that provides the full bandwidth of legal services to the business, with a focus on transactional work, contract drafting, and negotiations. While the position offers and requires a high level of independence, help and training within the team is always available. Flexible working hours are possible as long as the job gets done. This position is a European position and does not just focus on the Spanish market. Key tasks: Writing and drafting contracts and documents, working on templates as well as drafting new agreements. Negotiating complex agreements with customers and managing these from template to signature. Internal liaising with other relevant departments regarding the feasibility, design, and approval of relevant customer-facing agreements, commitments, or communication. Providing practical and solution-driven legal advice on all matters relevant to Fortinet's business, including sales, procurement, compliance, marketing, risk assessments, product terms, SLA, etc. Understand, monitor and manage compliance with internal policies, legal and regulatory requirements, and business practices. Providing training to Fortinet staff on compliance matters and legal processes. Designing and improving legal processes to streamline the business. The job offers the opportunity to independently work on the entire range of matters encountered by an in-house counsel but also offers the possibility to specialize in certain areas if desired. Requirements: Perfect English, spoken, written and contract drafting. 8-12 years work post-qualification experience in law firm or in-house, ideally in both. Qualified lawyer in an EU jurisdiction or UK solicitor. Significant drafting and negotiation experience obtained in a law firm or in-house legal department. Experience in a technology-driven environment/technology company. Ability to work and make decisions without supervision. Solution-driven, self-motivated. Positive can-do attitude: can handle complex work and yet no job is too small. Good team player, professional attitude. High integrity. Good communicator and ability to work with people from different cultural backgrounds. Flexible on working hours as attendance of early morning or late night telephone conferences may be occasionally required due to time differences
