The positionAt Hive, we're building theleading operations platform for independent commerce. We are looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to join the team and work on our React+TypeScript frontends.
Your work will impact hundreds of commerce brands and millions of end customers across our merchant-facing product ("Hive App"), our end customer offering ("Customer Portal" and "Delivery Promise"), as well as our Warehouse Management Software.
What you'll be doing Shipping high-quality product: In the end, what matters is what our customers are using on a day-to-day basisLead the technical design, development, and maintenance of functionality in our frontend applications, ensuring a seamless and responsive user experience across our productWork closely with product managers and designers to translate product requirements into technical specifications, developing new functionality and enhancing the existing product(s)Identify and address performance bottlenecks, design and implement scalable solutions that can handle increasing user demands and data volumes, ensure sustained frontend performance for fast load times and smooth interactionsParticipate in cross-team discussions shaping the technical direction of our frontend stackAdditionally, as a Senior Frontend Engineer you'll have the chance to shape the product and the team on a higher level by owning features end-to-end, mentoring, and pairing with younger engineers.
Your profileWe know - sometimes, you can't tick every box. We would still love to hear from you if you think you're a good fit! You've done this before. Multiple times. Ideally, you've written a lot of React, TypeScript and JavaScript code before. You love great user experience, sweat the details, and know when you reach the point where the product just works. We're looking to work with experienced people who can pick a problem and solve it — this will probably mean that you've worked as a Software Engineer for 5+ yearsBuilder at heart. Creating from scratch excites you. Figuring out how to solve problems is one of your favorite activities. Building, scaling, and rapidly iterating upon the software is what keeps you goingYou care about quality. You champion and deliver rigorously tested, documented, and maintainable code — you know how much time it'll save you down the lineYou care about the business impact. Perfect software is not the only thing — you care about the business impact of your products, and make trade-offs when necessary
Bonus points:Very good knowledge of React Context, Hooks, Function Components, styled-components and other UI librariesExperience writing E2E tests and automating UI testingExperience building Progressive Web Apps
