The Role: Personio is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Employment Counsel for EMEA, someone ambitious and genuine, who works best in the midst of a collaborative and forward-thinking team.
As the Senior Employment Counsel, you will play a key role in providing legal advice and support to the company's operations in multiple jurisdictions within the EMEA region (other than Germany) and the US, ensuring compliance with all relevant employment laws, regulations, and best practices while providing valuable legal and compliance solutions to our business.
You will collaborate closely with our employment counsel for DACH as well as cross-functional and diverse teams to address complex employment-related matters.

Your expertise will be critical in shaping and implementing Personio's employment guidelines and practices in line with local requirements and global standards.
ResponsibilitiesProvide expert advice and practical risk-based guidance to Personio's international operations on a wide range and complex employment law matters based on a combined understanding of Personio's strategy and in-depth legal expertise and experience.Define and execute the employment strategy and roadmap for Personio, aligning it with the company's vision and our employees' needs.Proactively develop our employment guidelines, procedures, and handbooks to ensure compliance with local laws and regulations across Personio.Lead on complex employment-related disputes while minimizing legal risks and maintaining positive employee relations.Advise our team of People Partners to resolve complex people disputes in a way that mitigates the risk for Personio and keeps us aligned to our culture of compassion and empathy.Keep up-to-date on changes in employment legislation across the EMEA and US and proactively advise our stakeholders on their implications for Personio.Advise the Reward team in respect of any legal input required on compensation, stock awards, and benefits matters across EMEA and US.Lead and support Personio's international expansion efforts by conducting due diligence on employment-related legal requirements in new jurisdictions or M&A transactions.Proactively identify, address, and manage employment-related legal risk issues, recommend and implement improvements while fostering a positive employee experience and compliance culture.Support our Employment Counsel and other lawyers or stakeholders on the company-wide/larger employment initiatives or cases, including regulatory projects like the Modern Slavery Act, Gender Pay Gap reporting, or similar.Manage the relationship with external lawyers on employment matters, including costs budgets, to deliver cost-effective solutions.Lead transformation for legal support on employment matters within Personio, including conducting regular audits to identify areas for improvement and recommendations for enhanced employment practices and processes.What you need to succeedQualified lawyer (in Ireland or Spain is a HUGE plus) with 10+ years' experience in-house or at a top law firm and at least 6 years of experience as an EMEA or international employment counsel.Expert level knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and litigation processes in the EU, UK, and ideally the US.Fluency in English (proficiency in Spanish or other languages spoken in Personio's operational locations is a plus).Prior experience in the fast-paced tech industry and/or with global employment matters is preferred.Proven track record of leading on complex employment matters, managing risk, and advising key decision stakeholders so they take the right risks at the right time.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and influence decision-making.An ambitious mindset that enables you to successfully work independently with little guidance, but also to use good judgment and call out issues when needed.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide practical and strategic advice in a fast-paced global environment.Self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced hypergrowth environment with minimal supervision (start-up mentality).Why PersonioAside from our people, culture, and mission, there are a variety of additional benefits that help make Personio a great place to work!
