Gameto is seeking a Senior Embryologist to lead the embryology team working on the preclinical development of Fertilo as part of a dynamic, dedicated, and growing team. About You: You are a senior leader in the Embryology space who is keen to interface your expertise in embryology with novel technologies for stem cell engineering to solve ambitious fertility challenges. You are excited to work at the intersection of multiple biological disciplines and lead the design of preclinical & clinical experiments that could lead to the creation of new protocols in assisted reproduction. You enjoy working in a dynamic, fast-paced, outcome-oriented, creative, and diverse group of people, leveraging your expertise and on-the-job learning to push innovation & tight timelines in the project.
Key Responsibilities:Oversee all clinical operations of the Embryology Laboratory on a daily basis: managing a team of reproductive scientists and embryologists in New York and Madrid, and collaborating with embryology and lab directors at external study sites in Peru and across the USA and globally.Formulate new stimulation and oocyte extraction assisted reproduction protocols for diverse patient groups to leverage our Fertilo biologic to improve patient experience and success rates in IVF.Engage in business development and corporate strategy of the Fertilo biologic, a new mechanism of action egg maturation drug, with the executive and business development teams.Develop experimental designs for junior team members to execute.Maintain a deep understanding of complex assisted reproductive techniques, including but not limited to: oocyte retrievals, embryo transfer, fertilization and embryo assessment, embryo cryopreservation, oocyte denuding, embryo thawing, semen preparation for IVF and intrauterine insemination, and semen analysis.Formulate laboratory policies and protocols and communicate with the executive on preclinical & clinical study progress.Lead laboratory quality assurance and quality control programs to ensure compliance with industry standards.Identify and anticipate safety and health concerns by surveying environmental, operational, and occupational conditions; render opinions on new equipment and procedures; and recommend preventative programs as needed.Oversee preventative maintenance requirements; troubleshoot malfunctions; maintain equipment inventories; evaluate new equipment and techniques; and guide employees in basic maintenance procedures.Assist in the recruitment, selection, retention, training, and supervision of embryology, clinical, and laboratory personnel to ensure the highest quality embryology services.Spend significant time overseeing clinical teams in Madrid and New York and travel regularly between the two sites.Provide clear guidance and participate in the write-up of results, data analysis, critical appraisal, and further protocol optimization.Prepare manuscripts for publication and presentation at academic conferences and leading industry events.Handle other duties as needed.Qualifications:10+ years of experience in Human Embryology & Assisted Reproduction.Ph.D. in a Biological, Chemical, Clinical Laboratory, or other Life Sciences Discipline, or a Medical Degree (equivalent).Proficient in QC Procedures, Culture Dish Preparation, Sperm Preparation, TESE/MESA Preparation, Oocyte Retrieval, Oocyte Grading, Cryopreservation, Embryo Thaw, Fertilization Assessment, Embryo Assessment, Embryo Transfer, ICSI, and Assisted Hatching.Extensive knowledge of stimulation protocols, clinical care, and the full patient journey of assisted reproduction.Experience in a Leadership and/or Supervisory role managing a multidisciplinary team.Previous experience in experimental design and clinical product development in an industry setting.Aptitude to make appropriate judgments about the clinical significance of laboratory data.Knowledge and experience with strategies of laboratory management and human resources management.Extensive professional network in the field of assisted reproduction and all key stakeholders.About Gameto: Gameto is a new breed of biotechnology company in female reproductive health.
