Medical Affairs Lead for Shared MarketsThis is what you will do: The Medical Lead for Shared Markets will lead the team responsible for the transition from current Partnership for Growth to the Shared Market Model. This individual will serve as the key medical voice at the cross-functional Shared Markets leadership team and serve as the medical point of contact between Alexion, Astra Zeneca Medical Rare Diseases Unit team (AZMRDU) and our current partners/distributors for the affiliates where Alexion is not legally present and in the future the Astra Zeneca Rare Disease Medical teams in shared markets. This individual will serve as a liaison between staff, executives, and senior leaders regarding governance, strategic medical processes, project updates, and planning. In particular, this individual will oversee, set, and manage key shared markets medical and patient's strategic initiatives, drive internal alignment, handle inquiries, develop action plans to address them and assist with the preparation and dissemination of communications among these 3 parties. This individual will provide alignment, consistency on medical strategy, on resourcing, and capability building during the transition period of the business from the partners to AZMRDU and will continue to provide expertise and support after the transition is completed.
The Medical Lead for Shared Markets will also provide line management and leadership to the Alexion shared markets medical team across the footprint of shared market geographies (Latin America, Asia, Middle East, and Europe). This individual will play a key role in hiring, developing, and retaining talent for the Alexion medical team supporting AZMRDU.
You will be responsible for: Developing, implementing, and monitoring the rollout of all medical activities during the transition from the partner/distributor to AZMRDU, in close collaboration with business peers in a timely manner.Developing and implementing the operational model and ways of working for Alexion Regional Shared Markets Medical Leads and AZMRDU after the transition is finalized in shared markets.Sharing and transferring the resourcing model, medical plans and tactics, relevant information from partner/distributor to AZMRDU.Providing medical expertise, knowledge transfer, and inputs to AZMRDU through transition and after full transition of the business from partners to AZMRDU.Ensuring patients' services continuity during and after full transition.Managing your team (Alexion Regional Shared Markets Medical Leads) which will support AZMRDU as liaisons with TA leads and other internal Alexion stakeholders and in the field (interactions with Medical Societies, PAOs, KTLs, HCPs, Health Authorities) in the shared countries around the globe.Ensuring that Alexion Regional Shared Markets Medical Leads work with local AZMRDU on alignment, consistency on medical strategy, on capability building, on best practices sharing on a broad array of medical programs across International and Japan regions.Establishing effective quality control and processes, aligned with relevant functions and AZ quality, compliance, ethical, legal, and governance standards.Establishing effective local operational management organization.Developing and monitoring metrics/KPIs related to the performance of the Shared Markets Medical Center of Excellence.Ensuring cross-functional alignment and comprehensive, proactive, timely, and proper multi-level communication to internal and external relevant stakeholders.Together with Commercial, HR, Regulatory, Market Access, and other Functions aligning continuously on priorities and deliverables.You will need to have: MD Medical or similar life science degree.Minimum of 10 years in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, working in a fast-paced international environment.Strong business acumen.Enterprise agility - can confidently gain credibility quickly with leaders across all parts of the organization.Trusted leader, experienced and understanding the functional area.Complex problem solver, guiding large projects.Effective in interactions internally and externally with management and executive levels.Effective at influencing and decision making both internally and externally.Thrives in diverse environments with high levels of ambiguity.Collaborative and builds strong professional relationships easily.Excellent organization, communication, and facilitation skills.
