Job DescriptionThe Senior Credit Portfolio Manager role is part of the second line of defence Risk Management & Compliance function and reports directly to the Chief Credit Officer for Europe. The role is responsible for risk management of U.S. Bank Europe's credit portfolio, ensuring alignment with risk appetite, strategy, and industry requirements. The role holder will work closely with senior risk leadership and collaborate cross-functionally to implement effective credit risk strategies and maintain oversight of problem credits.Key Responsibilities:Lead risk oversight of the credit portfolio including concentration management, loss provisioning, and credit growth strategy.Oversee the management of problem credits, identifying early signs of deterioration and implementing strategies for remediation to minimise losses.Manage provision adequacy assessments for both credit assets and contingent liability exposures ensuring adherence to applicable accounting standards (i.e. IFRS).Collaborate with lines of business and central functions to ensure that the Bank's contingent liability is correctly estimated, monitored, and reported internally and externally.Maintain dedicated oversight of the Bank's airline portfolio, including exercising delegated credit approval authority for airline relationships.Work with lines of business to advise on portfolio composition strategies, risk mitigation techniques, and structure of new credit transactions.Deputise for the Chief Credit Officer, as required, representing the Credit Risk Management function at internal or external meetings and presenting credit risk updates at senior management fora.Leverage market intelligence to monitor economic, geopolitical, and industry trends that impact risk in the portfolio and generate proposals to re-balance risk.Work with other members of the Credit Risk Management team to analyse credit risk metrics and indicators, providing insightful reporting and recommendations to senior management to support informed decision-making.Qualifications/Skills:Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.Extensive experience (12+ years) in credit risk management within a financial institution, preferably in a portfolio management role.Experience managing loss provisioning processes (i.e. IFRS9) and implementing associated governance standards.Excellent written, presentation, and communication skills with the ability to articulate key messages in a concise manner.Analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret data/trends and draw actionable insights.Expert understanding of credit risk, methodologies, and regulatory requirements (e.g. Basel, CRR).Ability to lead and motivate a team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.Familiarity with financial analysis, or a professional certification such as FRM, CFA, ACA/ACCA or similar are desirable.The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.
