At the intersection of art, design, and technology lies Striking Distance Studios. Led by Dead Space and Call of Duty franchise veteran Glen Schofield, a new AAA development studio has risen within the San Ramon Hills of the San Francisco Bay Area. We have planted roots in beautiful Bishop Ranch and are now building our flagship state-of-the-art development studio establishing the East Bay as the new up and coming creative and technological hub we know it to be. Additionally, we have just expanded by setting up a sister studio in Zaragoza, Spain, that will be assisting in the development of the business.

What We Need: Striking Distance Studios in Zaragoza, Spain, is looking for a talented, motivated, and experienced Senior Core Engineer. You will be working in a highly creative and collaborative environment that looks for a blend between art and technology disciplines, and striving to advance rendering (and other fields) state of art. Your role will be to research and develop new rendering features and techniques, and to be up to date with conferences, papers, and technology presentations.
Responsibilities:
Implement system-level and gameplay-supporting systemsOptimize game code and systemsMentor less experienced engineersCollaborate with technology director/architect on technical design and feature roll outWork with team leads and other engineers to identify systems in need of maintenance, optimization, or refactoringCoordinate with leads to ensure smooth roll out of new featuresReview the work of other engineers and provide mentorshipCreate and maintain technical design documentsQualifications:
5+ years programming experience as core engineer or equivalent for recent consoles, PC, Unreal or SimilarExcellent multi-threaded programming techniquesBachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, or equivalentDeep understanding of low-level optimizations and core subsystems, memory management, cross-platform developmentStrong experience on recent consolesStrong verbal and written communications skillsAbility to be self-directed, focused, and detail-orientedExperience with technical requirement certification (Sony, Microsoft, etc.)Knowledge in 3D math in processor-specific and SIMD programmingSpanish language fluency preferred or the desire to learn.
