Overview
The Venue Technical Operations Commentary team operates under Engineering within the Venue Technical Operations (VTO) department. Working closely with the Broadcast System Commentary team, the main focus is on venue commentary facilities' planning, which includes extensive coordination, cooperation, and negotiation with the host city organizing committee, as well as pre-Games venue commentary facilities installation supervision and management, moving to Games time operational support.
Duties
- Work closely with OBS Venue Technical Operation, Production, Broadcast System, and Broadcast Service teams. Externally, collaborate with the Organizing Committee.
- Plan and deploy venue commentary facilities tailored to diverse Summer and Winter Olympic sports, venue conditions, and broadcast technical requirements.
- Manage the implementation and installation of venue commentary facilities. Anticipate potential venue broadcast operational challenges and provide proactive solutions.
- Ensure the reliability and performance of broadcast operations within the venue commentary area during live broadcasts.
- Develop and maintain key documentation based on venue broadcast service requests, including broadcast power allocation, cable assignments, layouts, and technical diagrams.
- Review and interpret venue infrastructure and technical drawings to ensure alignment with project requirements.
- Conduct venue surveys in the host city (indoor and outdoor) to evaluate and document venue conditions, identifying and reporting potential technical and operational issues.
- Oversee venue broadcast facility installation and ensure compliance with industry standards during setup and breakdown.
- Monitor project plans and task schedules to ensure deadlines are met and align with overall Broadcast venue timelines.
- Continuously develop procedures and contribute to the processes of the team, including technological knowledge and expertise.
Experience
- Proven experience of at least 5 years in live broadcast project planning and management for international sports events within a host broadcast company or broadcast organization. Olympic Games venue Broadcast operational experience is a valuable asset and highly advantageous.
- Strong understanding of live broadcast signal flow and production procedures. Familiarity with audio, IP, and low-voltage operations is advantageous.
- Effective communication, cooperation, and execution skills, particularly in multicultural environments, are essential.
- Detail-oriented, motivated, resilient, and highly organized, with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word), Smartsheet, and DWG True View, online reporting system. Basic operational knowledge of Auto CAD, Wire CAD, and SketchUp.
- Ability to oversee Broadcast venue technical installations and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Stay informed about emerging technologies relevant to the role.
