Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior Civil Designer with extensive experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry to join our Project Team for our current projects.
The role will typically include the conceptual design and specifications to identified client requirements. The position based in Madrid is responsible for ensuring that all civil design work on Projects is successfully executed and completed to a high quality.
Responsibilities:
Acting as a liaison between Madrid and other Wood offices to ensure timely and effective release of data/drawing and resolution of problems.
Coordinating the execution of civil design works by other affiliates to ensure compliance with project specifications and production of civil and structural deliverables within time and budget.
Checking and commenting deliverables for civil structural and architectural discipline.
Checking of drawings/models in accordance with Work Practices, standards and client standards.
Receiving engineering design information and instructions from Civil Designer as applicable.
Ensuring that efficient and effective communications are maintained among the several offices involved, ensuring that all reporting requirements are met.
Ensuring that the operating center produces final civil deliverable drawings i.e. earthworks, piling, foundations, superstructures, underground services, paving and buildings inclusive of reinforcement detailing and reinforcement bending schedules where applicable, and development of these deliverables when applicable.
Participating in Model Reviews as and when required.
Minimum Requirements:
Degree from academy or vocational high school (from architectural or civil/mechanical construction/design is preferred).
Experience in EPC organizations working in the refinery and petrochemical industries on major projects.
Experience as Lead Designer/Checking Designer, capable of leading a team of designers.
Excellent drafting software expertise as Autocad (Microstation V8 or a later version, 3D Modelling package experience i.e. Smart Plant 3D, TEKLA).
Plan and prioritize designer's work.
Provide technical support and guide the designers.
Strong interpersonal & communication skills, able to work in a team.
Availability to travel.
Holding a valid permit to live and work in Spain is required.
Excellent knowledge of written and spoken Spanish and English.
