Who You'll Work With: You will be based in our Madrid office as part of our Client Capabilities Network (CCN). You will join a small team that you will collaborate with on a daily basis. You will also be interacting with a wide range of McKinsey colleagues both locally and internationally. As a (Senior) Capabilities & Insights Banking Analyst, you will have the opportunity to further develop your expertise in the Banking sector.
What You'll Do: You will leverage a solid understanding of business trends, issues, and concepts to efficiently respond to complex research questions by delivering synthesized, actionable facts and insights to our consulting teams and clients. In this role, you will work alongside senior knowledge professionals on larger client projects and internal knowledge initiatives. By collecting and analyzing data and information found in databases and/or other primary and secondary research tools, you will assemble a fact base, counsel consultants and clients on the scope of the business and economic trends surrounding the issue, and provide insights and analysis for solving client problems at hand. Some of your day-to-day activities may include identifying the key issues for the problem at hand and determining the most appropriate solution while effectively balancing quality, availability, timeliness, and cost factors. You will perform a variety of analyses such as benchmarking, trend identification, industry profiling, market sizing, growth projections, opportunity scanning, etc., in order to add value to problem-solving discussions. You will provide synthesis, insight, and client implications within tight deadlines via end products in the form of PowerPoint charts, written memos, models, and frameworks. In time, you will also participate in, and eventually lead, internal knowledge development and capability-building initiatives and you will use advanced analytics tools to prepare, build, and analyze large datasets to forecast trends, distill insights, and interpret business implications in the financial industry.
Qualifications: Master's degree ideally in economics, business, data analytics, or a related field1+ years of relevant industry or research experienceDemonstrable interest in and knowledge of financial services topics (e.g., retail banking, corporate & investment banking, payments, asset management, wealth management, fintech)Data and analytics driven; ability to manage large data sets with advanced Excel skills; VBA programming is a plusKnowledge of databases and sources such as ECB, EBA, and Bank of Spain is helpfulAbility to work collaboratively in a team environment and effectively with people at all levels in an organizationSkills to communicate complex ideas effectivelyFluent command of the Spanish and English language (both verbal and written)
