The successful candidate will have first Business Development experience in the infrastructure industry.
This role will require a blend of strategic vision, hands-on execution, and close collaboration with internal teams to deliver solutions that enhance the capacity and efficiency of our terminals, ports, and other logistical facilities.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities: Business expansion initiatives Assist the Chief Commercial Officer on various commercial, customer and project related matters.
Originate, develop and implement strategies to improve our infrastructure footprint, including identifying new locations, assessing potential M&A targets, capex investment, divestments, and partnerships.
Handle relationships with current clients and identify new prospects, including negotiation and finalizing transactional documents with external parties.
Apply creative thinking and explore unexpected approaches when analyzing potential business development targets or commercial opportunities.
Maintain databases related to customers, prices, projects and targets.
Regularly report on business development activities, market opportunities, and progress towards sales targets to the senior management team.
Design and propose customized logistics solutions that meet the specific requirements of clients.
Ensure that all business development initiatives meet regulatory standards and align with Impala's dedication to a sustainable approach.
Conduct in-depth market research to assess demand, competitive landscape, and emerging trends in commodity infrastructure.
Review financial models, focusing on valuation and returns analysis.
Build internal and external presentations for projects.
Project management Coordinate multiple Business Development projects from inception to completion, including project planning, prioritization, and stakeholder alignment.
Understand financial models and detailed valuation analysis to support analysis for deals or commercial assessments.
Cross functional teamwork Collaborate with finance and operations teams to develop business cases and investment proposals for new infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with company's strategic goals and ensuring smooth execution of client contracts and to meet service delivery standards.
Facilitate communication with key clients, partners, and third parties and coordinate client meetings, preparing materials, and following up on action items.
Interact with senior team members and counterparty teams to perform transactions and identify and lead all risks in a given deal.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills.
A Master's degree or equivalent experience in International Trade or a closely related field is highly valued.
5 years of experience in business development of infrastructure in the bulk commodity (e.g., metals, oil & gas, agriculture) and/or transportation (e.g., ports, terminals, etc) sectors is a major advantage.
Confirmed skills in managing high-value contracts and building long-term business relationships in the commodity or logistics industry.
Proficient in English and Spanish (both written and spoken).
Deep understanding of the commodity trading value chain, including production, transportation, storage, and distribution and/or commodity infrastructure with strong project management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate efficiently across internal teams and external clients.
Flexible and willing to travel for business purposes as the need arises (+/- 20%).
Teammate, process-oriented, organized, and methodical in work.
