Senior Backend Engineer (PHP) Compensation: Dependent on experience
Location: Barcelona
We're seeking a proactive Senior Backend Engineer proficient in crafting reusable and tidy code, with a fervent dedication to delivering top-tier backend applications, particularly in PHP, our primary client-side language. In this role, you will spearhead the development of Zeelo's backend system, serving as the cornerstone of our customers' booking journey. This system intricately integrates with multiple external platforms. Your responsibilities will extend to designing and deploying various APIs, catering to internal consumption as well as external partnerships.
You should be/have: At least 6 years of hands-on experience in developing client-side systems.Proficiency in working with Event-Driven architecture, demonstrating practical application in previous projects.Expertise in queue management utilizing technologies such as Redis, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Kinesis, or similar platforms.Demonstrated experience in developing cloud-based systems using AWS or equivalent cloud services.Contribution to the design, architecture, and development lifecycle of products and services.Proven track record in delivering highly scalable, quality software, with a strong focus on testing and scalability.Proficiency in Domain Driven Design principles, coupled with extensive knowledge of API design and a strong testing mindset, preferably with exposure to Test-Driven Development (TDD).Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to effectively engage both internally and externally.Outgoing personality, adept at fostering effective communication within the team and with external stakeholders.Demonstrated creativity, drive, proactivity, and a willingness to explore and implement new approaches.Versatile and pragmatic approach to work, capable of functioning autonomously and collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams.Experience mentoring and guiding fellow engineers, with a continuous focus on fostering growth and development within the team.We'd really like if you: Proficient knowledge in the Symfony framework, showcasing practical application in previous projects.Experience in integrating disparate systems using various technologies, demonstrating adaptability and problem-solving skills.Familiarity with CQRS (Command Query Responsibility Segregation) architecture, with hands-on experience preferred.Demonstrated interest in machine learning and a track record of building data-driven solutions.Submission of projects that reflect personal pride and accomplishment along with your CV.Previous experience in a startup environment or involvement in personal projects, illustrating entrepreneurial spirit and self-motivation.What you need to know about ZeeloZeelo is a TransitTech company powering bus operators, employers and schools to provide highly efficient, sustainable and affordable transport programsOur mission is to connect the world to work and education through affordable and sustainable transportationWe are in the business of providing both SaaS and managed commuter solutions to employers (office-based and shift-based), schools (private schools and universities) and bus/shuttle operatorsWe routinely procure bus operator partners to provide ground transportationWe have developed a best-in-class technology platform that connects organisations with riders and operator partners consisting of a route optimization platform, mobile apps and operations management system.We're 7 years old, backed by over $35 million of venture capital from ETF Partners, InMotion Ventures (Jaguar Land Rover), and Dynamo.VC.We're a team of 130+ across offices (London, Barcelona & Boston) and live in 2 markets (UK, & U.S.)We encourage a culture where people move together, smart and fast.
