We are looking for a Senior Atomic Optics physicist to join the Design & Simulations team in Barcelona.
At Lace, we focus on producing a revolutionary chip lithography technology that will dramatically improve chip performance.
Your job You will be the senior technical contributor for the simulations and design team.
This includes liaising with the team lead in defining the technical roadmap of the team, and being the main hands-on contributor for all physics-related calculations in the company.
Your role: Lead theoretical calculations for relevant engineering components of our system.
Code, run and iterate on numerical solvers relevant to the theoretical calculations.
Code & evaluate atom optics simulations that reflect the interactions between neutral atoms and diffraction masks.
Code & evaluate atom beam simulations relevant to metastable atom beams.
Design experiments and experimental devices.
Stay on top of the state of the art in the field and quickly implement methods published in academic papers.
Actively liaise with the rest of the Simulations and Design team in order to keep all physics-related code sound and consistent with experimental results.
Be a promoter of best practices both scientific and computational.
Mentor and guide the junior members of the team to ensure timely delivery of the team's projects.
Qualifications/Experience: Broad understanding of physics at a graduate level - including all fields relevant to Atomic and Molecular Optics.
Good understanding of Optics at a graduate level.
PhD or MsC in atom optics including atom interferometry / plasma physics/ metastable atoms / fluid mechanics / related fields.
More than three years of experience in industry or in highly competitive research settings.
Demonstrated coding skills (you will be asked to produce examples of your code).
Knowledge of python or other simulation programming languages/environments such as OpenFOAM, Matlab, Julia etc.
More than one first-author publication in the field.
