Senior Accountant, Compliance (EMEA), Fixed Term IntroductionThe Senior Accountant will report to the Sr Manager International Accounting and will be based in Madrid or London with exposure to the corporate headquarters accounting organization in the United States as well as to the EMEA regional teams. He/she will be part of a high performing team and will be expected to lead, take ownership of his/her areas of responsibility, and ensure accurate and timely completion of company reporting requirements.This will be a 12 month fixed term assignment.What You Will Do:Manage VAT activities for UK and EMEA companies:Ensure that VAT returns are prepared, reviewed, approved, and filed in respect of deadlines in each jurisdiction.Prepare and submit EC sales or Intrastat reporting as applicable.Act a subject-matter expert on all related VAT questions and provide advice as applicable, anticipate the impact of operational changes and ensure system set-up updates as required.Manage the relationship with the transfer price advisor.Manage the EMEA Payroll process:Ensure that ADP receives all information for monthly payroll runs, review and validate payroll runs, ensure payment is wired on time and prepare monthly entry.Liaise with EMEA accounting team to provide information to local payroll service providers.Reconcile payroll accounts and get discrepancies resolved. Prepare annual statements and assist employees for any payroll related questions or access to ADP Portal.Book accruals (bonus, sales commission, vacation).Ensure pension and payroll tax accounts are current.Reconcile intercompany balances with all relevant entities, and liaise on all applicable recharges between entities (cross charge, loans, payroll, R&D, Royalties, LRD true ups, management recharges…).Record monthly income tax entries, and perform reconciliation of US GAAP to local accounting basis tax expense:Includes entries for and reconciliation of deferred taxes.Perform return to provision analysis, and related journal entry if applicable.Prepare periodic reporting to the Office of National Statistics (turnover, inwards/outwards investment, inventory, FTEs).Maintain the secondary ledger up to date and reconcile primary and secondary ledgers (US GAAP vs UK GAAP).Act as primary UK contact for all corporate tax related matters or questions and work closely with the corporate team (tax returns, RTP entries, questions from HMRC, transfer price review…), assist for the yearly R&D Credit application.Assist for monthly close activities:Prepare entries related to VAT, income taxes, and payroll, reconcile related accounts.Prepare monthly flux analysis for VAT, income taxes, and payroll.Primary point of contact for annual audits (Group as well as regional).Ensure SOX controls are executed and operating as designed.To Be Successful You Will Have:Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, ACCA or similar qualification preferred.Previous public accounting experience or a similar accounting role.Experience with VAT filings, direct to consumer experience a plus.Experience with Oracle or similar ERP system and strong Excel skills, experience with Vertex a plus.Attention to detail as well as analytical and problem-solving skills.Highly effective communication skills, both oral and written.Working knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley desirable.French or Spanish language skills preferred.ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONWork Location: London, United Kingdom or Madrid, Spain
