ROLE SUMMARY: We are seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic teacher to join our highly successful English Language Development team in Secondary. The successful applicant will be an inspiring English language acquisition teacher, as well as being able to offer effective curriculum support to raise the achievement of our students with English as an additional language, adapting schemes of work and developing scaffolded resources. They will be a dynamic communicator who can develop effective relationships with staff, students and parents to impact positively on the inclusive, intercultural ethos of our school and empower students to reach their full potential. Knowledge of MYP and DP programmes is desirable as well as experience/qualifications in SEND.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Deliver engaging and differentiated English language acquisition lessons to secondary students, incorporating a variety of instructional strategies and resources to meet the diverse needs of learners. Design and implement unit plans, lesson plans, and assessments, ensuring that learning objectives are clearly defined and scaffolded appropriately. Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel empowered to take risks, express themselves confidently, and develop their language skills through authentic communication. Develop the academic proficiency of our English language learners to foster success across all curriculum areas. Integrate language development across the curriculum, collaborating with subject teachers to support students' language acquisition in other content areas. Provide timely and constructive feedback to students on their language proficiency, progress, and areas for growth, and work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and parents to support student learning. Utilise technology effectively (We are an Apple Technology School) to enhance language learning experiences and facilitate meaningful communication and collaboration both inside and outside the classroom. Stay abreast of current research, best practices, and developments in the field of English language teaching and IB education, and actively participate in professional development opportunities. Contribute to the broader life of the school community through participation in extracurricular activities, school events, and collaborative initiatives aimed at promoting a positive school culture. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE: Bachelor's degree in Education, English Language Teaching, or a related field (Master's degree preferred) Teaching certification/licence or equivalent qualification Experience teaching English language acquisition at the secondary level, preferably in an IB or international school setting Familiarity with the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) or Diploma Programme (DP) frameworks is desirable Strong understanding of language acquisition theory, pedagogy, and best practices Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education Fluency in English (additional language proficiency is an asset) Experience with educational technology and digital learning platforms SAFEGUARDING STATEMENT Inspired Education Group is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff, volunteers and other third parties to share this commitment.
