Successful Candidate will be accountable for supporting active projects within the unit aiming to develop new antimalarial drugs. This will include regular in vitro evaluation of compounds, evaluation of parasite killing rates, estimation of drug resistance and development of new assays. Within this role, Candidate will work in collaboration with other members of the team and external collaborators. Therefore, excellent communication and teamwork skills and the confidence and ability to influence within the department and multi-disciplinary matrix teams are needed.Main Responsibilities:Work in a biosafety lab level 3*. In vitro evaluation of compounds in medium and high throughput format, supporting projects to develop new antimalarial drugs.Antimalarial mode of action determination and evaluation of parasite killing rates.Evaluation of established drug resistance. Analyse experimental data, interpret results, write reports and presentation of results.Implementation of new methods and protocols required for internal projects.Select and desig experiments, based on interpretation of previous results and maintain fluent communications with the team and external collaborators.What are the requirements?PhD or Bsc in Biology (Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Parasitology) or related discipline.Working experience with cell cultures.Working experience with pathogenic microorganims, particularly on Plasmodium falciparum.High written and spoken English is needed to allow fluent work in international teams.Demonstrated independence and competency in designing and executing experiments.Demonstrated teamswork skills.Experience in analyzing experimental data, interpreting results, and writing reports and summaries of findings.Preferred Qualifications:If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:License for working with radioactivity is recommendedExperience working in BSL3 facilities is recommendedUnderstanding of the drug discovery process is recommendedJob Posting end date: 18/06/2024Why GSK?
