What We Are Looking for
ISGlobal is looking for a motivated Scientific Data Manager for federated analyses at the Department of Genetics, UMC Groningen, The Netherlands to work on the ATHLETE (Advancing Tools for Human Early Lifecourse Exposome Research and Translation) project.
The ATHLETE project has received funding from H (grant agreement) and aims to implement the exposome in birth cohorts in order to study the effects of a wide range of community-level and individual-level environmental risk factors on mental, cardiometabolic, and respiratory health outcomes and associated biological pathways during the first 2 decades of life.
The Scientific Data Manager will work on the development of DataSHIELD-based federated analysis tools for specific scientific research topics, assist scientists in using these tools and contribute to the goals of the project in terms of FAIR data use.
The Scientific Data Manager may be involved in onboarding activities, assist in migration and maintenance of data infrastructures and advise in the general development of tools and use of infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of software tools for federated analyses
- Support end-users in using analyses tools within the scope of their scientific research topics
- Have a prominent role in the community of researchers using the software for federated analyses
- Contribute to data use according to FAIR principles and data harmonisation
- Assist in data entry and disclosure within the infrastructure
- Technical maintenance and upgrades of infrastructure
- Take a leading role in publishing and presenting on scientific topics involving federated analysis
- Active involvement in the DataSHIELD community with the emphasis on MOLGENIS Armadillo software tools.

Training and experience / Qualifications
- Educated to diploma level in biostatistics, bioinformatics or related topics
- Experience in processing and managing complex data
- Has successfully concluded statistical analyses in R
- Experience with federated analysis tools: DataSHIELD, Armadillo, Opal
- Extensive experience with scientific programming languages on development level: R and Python
- Experience with big datasets: data manipulation, analysis, visualization
- Knowledge of FAIR principles
- Experience with guiding and instructing scientists
- Has an established network of researchers and DataSHIELD / Armadillo / Opal users and software suppliers
- Experience in epidemiological, medical or laboratory sciences is an advantage.
