This position involves identifying, analysing, and mitigating potential safety risks.
The Safety Officer is responsible for conducting thorough investigations of incidents, accidents, and near-miss events, and ensuring compliance with all aviation safety regulations.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of safety management systems (SMS), risk assessment, and regulatory standards, with previous experience in helicopter operations being an advantage.MAIN RESPONSABILITIESIncident and Accident InvestigationLead investigations of incidents, accidents, and near-miss events, following established protocols and methodologies in line with ICAO Annex 13.Collect, analyse, and document all relevant data, including aircraft logs, maintenance records, and witness statements.Prepare comprehensive investigative reports, identify root causes, and recommend corrective and preventative actions.Safety Program Development and MaintenanceSupport the implementation and continuous improvement of the organization's Safety Management System (SMS) to foster a positive safety culture.Conduct safety training and briefings for aviation personnel, emphasising proactive safety measures.Risk Assessment and Hazard IdentificationConduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards associated with aviation operations, flights, and ground activities.Participate in safety inspections, reporting findings and working with teams to resolve identified issues.Actively monitor and report on safety performance indicators and trends to anticipate and mitigate risks.Regulatory ComplianceEnsure compliance with all aviation safety regulations, including those set by EASA, and the Spanish and Portuguese authorities.Stay current on industry standards and regulatory updates to adapt safety best practice accordingly.Support coordination with regulatory bodies during inspections, audits, and any required reporting.Safety Promotion and CommunicationAssist with developing safety bulletins, newsletters, or other communication materials to keep all personnel informed on safety issues and results of investigations.Engage with cross-functional teams to reinforce safety protocols and learnings from events and investigations
