Job Title: EHS Specialist IberiaCompany: GE Renewable EnergyLocation: Albacete, SpainJob Description Summary:The EHS specialist provides day-to-day EHS direct support for a set of sites within a region or department, considering all WTG generators within the region, warehouses and service sites, field technicians, managers, contractors, and staff within the defined scope.
They are the first line contact for the field service engineers as they manage day-to-day EHS issues in service work.
Their mission is to:Ensure compliance with Laws, Regulations and ProceduresSupport and Drive the achievement of a Zero Harm CultureProvide Factual and Effective CommunicationInfluence stakeholdersKeep focus on Strategic and Business VisionThe EHS Specialist scope encompasses a set of clusters and sites in the South and East of Spain, with 50 thousand annual exposure hours and approximately 50 individuals employed by GE and contractor employees supervised by GE employees.
Preferred location is Albacete or any other location in the south, south-east of Spain.Role Mission and Responsibilities:Interpret Laws, Regulations and Procedures, considering all relevant local/national EHS standards in the organization.Prepare EHS Documentation for products and processes if needed and review any other documents prepared by other areas to provide EHS assessment.Review key processes regularly, like emergency response, supporting site managers and supervisors at its implementation, and regularly auditing its implementation at site level.Train people to understand laws, regulations, and procedures, offering guidance to risk mitigation when necessary.Ensure compliance and full implementation in all GE EHS processes and EHS reporting systems.Recognize trends and patterns, advising actions to avert potential risks before they create an incident.Support and assist accident/incident investigations, providing training and guidance in investigation and root cause analysis.Liaise with Contractors/Subcontractors, insurance representatives, local medical services, local fire and police departments, local regulatory agencies, and Customer/Client on EHS related matters.Serve as coach, mentor, and trainer for local management team, including site managers and other key leaders in safety.Conduct EHS trainings and awareness sessions to all personnel in the assigned areas.Ensure periodical EHS meetings are held at all levels to involve the organization.Communicate key EHS information related to execution to anyone who is involved or could be affected before execution.Required Qualifications:Technical background in electricity, mechanical, etc.Local certification as Safety Professional (Técnico de Prevención de Riesgos Laborales de nível superior).Physical condition and fitness to climb a wind turbine.Good knowledge of local rules/regulations framework.Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and web-based tools.5 years of experience in wind field operations and/or EHS, ideally in wind business.Fluent in English and Spanish (written and spoken).Travel required: Yes, 50% of the time.Desired Qualifications:Familiar with OSHA (US) regulatory requirements.Familiar with ISO 45001, 14001 Certifications framework.GWO (Global Wind Organization) qualifications (WINDA code).Technical background as a Wind Turbine Technician is considered an advantage.
