Job Description Summary:
The EHS specialist provides day-to-day EHS direct support for a set of sites within a region or department, considering all WTG generators within the region, warehouses and service sites, field technicians, managers, contractors, and staff within the defined scope. They are the first line contact for the field service engineers as they manage day-to-day EHS issues in service work. The tasks are related to training, inspections, customer interaction around planning and job execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with Laws, Regulations, and Procedures.
Support and drive the achievement of a Zero Harm Culture.
Provide factual and effective communication.
Influence stakeholders.
Keep focus on strategic and business vision.
Interpret laws, regulations, and procedures, considering relevant local/national EHS standards.
Prepare EHS documentation for products and processes, and review documents prepared by other areas for EHS assessment.
Train personnel to understand laws, regulations, and procedures, and advocate for ongoing improvements to safety.
Recognize trends and patterns, advising actions to avert potential risks.
Support and assist in accident/incident investigations.
Liaise with contractors, insurance representatives, local medical services, and regulatory agencies on EHS matters.
Conduct EHS trainings and awareness sessions for all personnel.
Ensure periodic EHS meetings are held at all levels.
Advise site managers on deployment of EHS strategy and relevant changes in regulations.
Required Qualifications:
Technical background in electricity, mechanical, etc.
Local certification as Safety Professional (Técnico de Prevención de Riesgos Laborales de nível superior).
Physical condition and fitness to climb a wind turbine.
Good knowledge of local rules/regulations framework.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and web-based tools.
5 years of experience in wind field operations and/or EHS.
Fluent English and Spanish (written and spoken).
Willingness to travel 50% of the time.
Desired Qualifications:
Familiar with OSHA (US) regulatory requirements.
Familiar with ISO 45001, 14001 Certifications framework.
GWO (Global Wind Organization) qualifications.
Technical background as a Wind Turbine Technician is an advantage.
