As the Rigging Supervisor, you will work closely with a variety of departments, including R&D, Art, Modelling, Layout, and Animation to develop, implement, and support character and prop deformation rigs for use in both layout and animation. By working together, you will bring the characters to life, defining and creating state-of-the-art deformation and animation rigs for a wide range of character styles and art direction. Responsibilities: Supervise and mentor the rigging team by identifying skills and preferences to meet production requirements and deadlines. Design and maintain a modeling topology conducive to the storyboarded range of deformations in line with the modeling department. Work closely with animators to provide and refine full-range articulation of expressions and body movement needed to support a character's acting range in the film. Follow a brief to produce complex production-ready, high-quality rig deformations. Keep up with current artistic methodologies and technology trends and tools that best suit the production and the company. Design and maintain Master Rigs that can be re-used as a basis for articulating similar characters or applying existing Rigs to newly created character sculpts. Develop new techniques and ideas for user interfaces, deformation tools, and character-specific rigging solutions. Participate in turnover meetings, asset breakdowns, and bidding/re-bidding over the course of the project. Requirements: 8 years of professional experience in VFX or animation industries. 4 years of experience as Lead in the animation industry with production knowledge in rigging and deformation. An impressive reel, demonstrating attention to facial surface detail, underlying facial anatomy, and credible and organic facial expressions, as well as figure anatomy - biped and quadruped.
