It houses MareNostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe, and is involved in HPC service provision and R&D in computer and computational science.Context And MissionThe Computer Applications in Science and Engineering (CASE) department is looking for a researcher in computer science, engineering or related fields to join the BSC Dual-Use Technologies group. The project will be developed within the framework of the AI4Science Fellowships (AI4S), aimed at the convergence of HPC and AI.Key DutiesLeading the development and implementation of damage and fracture models applied to different types of materials based on AI techniques (UQ, ML, DMN).Leading algorithmic and computational optimizations of solid mechanics codes for portability to new HPC architectures.Contribute to scientific publications and report to different projects in which the researcher will be involved.RequirementsEducationPhD degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical engineering with a focus on High-Performance Computing (HPC) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).Essential Knowledge and Professional ExperienceExtensive experience in developing in-house FEM codes.Proven experience using large-scale HPC facilities for FEA.Experience with parallel programming models, particularly using MPI and OpenMP.Experience with GPU acceleration technologies, specifically utilizing CUDA or OpenACC.Expert proficiency in a compiled programming language, preferably Fortran.Strong skills in Python for scripting and data processing.Additional Knowledge and Professional ExperienceFluency in English is essential; proficiency in Spanish and other European languages is advantageous.Expertise in material modeling, particularly in energy and aeronautical sectors.Knowledge of composite materials, including their behavior and failure analysis.CompetencesAbility to work in a team and in a multi-cultural environment.Good communication and teamwork skills.Organizing skills, problem-solving, and proactive attitude.ConditionsFull-time contract (37.5h/week) with a good working environment.Duration: 4 years.Salary: 55,000.00€.Holidays: 23 paid vacation days plus additional holidays per agreement.Applications procedure and processAll applications must be submitted via the BSC website and contain a full CV and a cover letter.DeadlineThe vacancy will remain open until a suitable candidate has been hired.OTM-R principles for selection processesBSC-CNS is committed to the principles of the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers of the European Commission.#J-18808-Ljbffr
