No Offer Description The Thermal Energy and Building Research Group announces a position as First Stage Project Engineer (R1) in the field of Energy Efficiency in Buildings in the Mediterranean Area.
The research will be integrated into the Thermal Energy and Building Group, which focuses on integrated and systemic transformation towards buildings and communities of positive energy.
The group's vision is to investigate solutions and strategies that accelerate and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the building sector through human-centered design, energy efficiency measures, integration and management of energy systems, especially distributed renewable sources, in the built environment as part of urban communities.
The candidate will support the principal investigator in projects in the Mediterranean area (MED) as the main activity.
The projects encompass energy efficiency, integration of renewable energy sources, and sustainability in buildings, working with public bodies, owners, and managers of buildings to design and implement best energy efficiency practices and energy sustainability plans.
Within the framework of the Community of Efficient Buildings established in the MED area, the candidate will promote innovative solutions at national and community levels to influence policies and establish a new national and European regulatory framework that considers MED specificities.
The candidate will participate in networking activities with international partners, analyze technical results, report and communicate results, and ensure the quality of the project results.

Experience as a professional in the energy sector of at least two years, experience in national or European R+D projects and/or in the public sector related to the energy field is valued.
The candidate must be methodical and rigorous with a scientific spirit, abilities to work in a team, results-oriented, and possess high communication skills.
Essential: - Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Building Engineering, and/or Energy Engineering - Master's Degree in Building Physics, Sustainability, and/or Energy Efficiency in the Building Sector - 2 years of professional experience in sustainability in buildings - 1 year of professional experience in EU projects in the MED area - Knowledge of Spanish energy certification systems and related programs: HULC, CE3X, etc.
- Fluent English at all levels.
Catalan and/or Spanish are essential.
Preferred: - Associated with an International System of Certification in Sustainability (LEED, BREAM, etc.)
- Advanced knowledge of CAD and building design software (Autodesk / AutoCad, REVIT, SketchUp, etc.)
- Experience and knowledge in TRNSYS energy system simulation tool - Design of solar thermal/PV installations with software (Transol / PVSyst) - Knowledge of Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) in building materials.
