BSC combines HPC service provision and R&D in computer and computational science under one roof, with over 1000 staff from 60 countries.Context and Mission: The Department of Earth Sciences at BSC is one of the most active departments in Europe in atmospheric composition modelling, climate prediction, and climate services. The Climate Services Team (CST) is looking for a climate scientist to develop downscaled products for health, agriculture, and energy sectors, focusing on sub-seasonal, seasonal, and decadal climate services.Key Duties:Apply statistical downscaling methods to obtain climate data at high spatial resolution.Perform user-oriented research and facilitate technology transfer.Participate in EU projects, including teleconferences, workshops, and writing deliverables.Disseminate results in peer-reviewed scientific papers and international conferences.Collaborate with scientists to enhance synergies.Develop training materials for users and decision-makers.Contribute to developing a framework for downscaled products as climate services.Develop R packages and workflows for spatial downscaling techniques.Requirements:MSc in physical sciences, applied mathematics, environmental sciences, or engineering.Experience handling, analysing, and validating large climate model datasets.Experience with climate statistical analyses using R or Python.Experience with UNIX/LINUX environments and scripting languages.Strong communication skills in English for scientific publications.Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and international team.Conditions: Full-time contract (37.5h/week), flexible working hours, extensive training plan, private health insurance, 23 paid vacation days, and competitive salary based on qualifications and experience.Application Procedure: Applications must be made through the BSC website and include a CV and a cover letter.
