Context And Mission
The Computational Social Science and Humanities program aims to prepare the social sciences and humanities for the era of data, AI, and Exascale supercomputing. We focus on societal research areas such as Population and Household changes, Democratic Quality, Social Media, and Political Communication. We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher with strong skills in data science to join the Communication and Social Behavior research team.
Key Duties Conduct innovative research on communication and public opinion dynamics using advanced computational methods. Assist in data collection, cleaning, pre-processing, and analysis. Write and submit high-quality project proposals for competitive financial support. Coordinate and assist in setting up an Internet Observatory. Collaborate with the research group and other CSS departments. Create synergies with other social science disciplines to advance research. Requirements Education: PhD in hard or social sciences. Essential Knowledge: Experience in quantitative empirical analysis and computational methods; programming skills in languages such as R and Python; interest in media use and public opinion. Additional Knowledge: Fluency in English; proficiency in Spanish and other languages advantageous; experience with server management is a plus. Competences: Ability to work in a team, strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and a scientific mindset. Conditions Full-time contract (37.5h/week), good working environment, flexible working hours, and private health insurance. Duration: 4 years; Salary: 45,000.00€. Starting date: ASAP, before 16th December 2024.
