Context And Mission The Computer Applications in Science and Engineering (CASE) department is looking for a researcher in computer science, engineering or related fields to join the BSC Materials Science group. The project will be developed within the framework of the AI4Science Fellowships (AI4S), a talent attraction and retention program aimed at the convergence of HPC and AI.
The funding for these actions/fellowships and contracts comes from the European Union Recovery and Resilience Facility - Next Generation.
Key Duties Contributing to enhancing the main research lines of the materials science team at the BSC-CASE department. Contributing to incorporating novel AI-aided materials simulation techniques into the group's research. Supervising students and early-stage researchers. Interacting with international academic and industrial collaborators to carry out our collaborative research. Contribute to publications of scientific papers and periodic reports. Requirements Education: PhD in computer science, engineering, computational physics, theoretical chemistry, materials science, maths or related fields. Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience:
Experience in code development, parallelization and scientific high-performance computing (HPC). Knowledge of debugging (C, C++, Fortran, Python, MPI, OpenMP, OpenACC and/or CUDA) is desirable. Experience as a user and/or developer of ab initio electronic structure methods and/or classical molecular dynamics simulation codes will be positively considered. Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience:
Fluency in English is essential. Proficiency in Spanish and other European languages would be advantageous. Experience in HPC workflow design will be considered a plus. Good technical writing and communication skills. Competences:
Good interpersonal skills, including in multi-cultural environments. Problem-solving, pro-active, result-oriented and positive work attitude. Analytical thinking. Flexible team player capable of working with others and also independently. Conditions The position will be located at BSC within the CASE Department We offer a full-time contract (37.5h/week), a good working environment, flexible working hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance Duration: 4 years Holidays: 23 paid vacation days plus 24th and 31st of December per our collective agreement Salary: 45.000 Additional Expenses Grant: Each fellowship will be associated with a grant for additional expenses, such as IT equipment, travel, training, stays, etc. Starting date: asap - the incorporation for this vacancy must be before the 16th of December 2024 Applications procedure and process All applications must be submitted via the BSC website and contain:

Curriculum Analysis: Evaluation of previous experience and/or scientific history, degree, training, and other professional information relevant to the position. Interview phase: The highest-rated candidates at the curriculum level will be invited to the interview phase, conducted by the corresponding department and Human Resources. The recruitment panel will be composed of at least three people, ensuring at least 25% representation of women.
