Context And Mission: The Computer Applications in Science and Engineering (CASE) department is looking for a researcher in digital ethics and cognitive science in engineering to join the BSC Dual-Use Technologies group. The project will be developed within the framework of the AI4Science Fellowships (AI4S), a talent attraction and retention program aimed at the convergence of HPC and AI. The programme aims to consolidate research lines on the intersection of AI-digital ethics for dual-use computational modelling and decision-making discoveries. The funding for these actions comes from the European Union Recovery and Resilience Facility - Next Generation.
Key Duties:
Leading the integration of a digital ethics for dual-use technologies research line into current and further developments, including: abductive reasoning, anticipation, code of ethics, death in AI and Robots, morality of constructed spaces, and natural interrelation of facts and values.
Interact with different partners of several National, European, and Pan-European research projects.
Contribute to scientific publications and report to different projects in which the researcher will be involved.
Requirements:
Education: You have a PhD degree in Cognitive Science and Language, with a strong focus on technology considering technical, ethical, and socio-cultural dimensions. A bachelor's in Philosophy (applied) will be very well considered.
Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience:
Knowledge in the relation between moral values and technology.
At least 4 years of post-doctoral position.
At least 5 papers or relevant scientific contributions in the last 5 years.
International experience is essential.
Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience:
Fluency in English is essential.
Proficiency in Spanish and other European languages would be advantageous.
General knowledge in cognitive sciences and language will be considered an asset.
Familiarity with AI regulatory frameworks such as EU AiAct will be valuable.
Competences: Ability to work in a team and in a multi-cultural environment.
