The Barcelona Supercomputing Center - Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS) is the leading supercomputing center in Spain. It houses MareNostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe, and is now hosting entity for EuroHPC JU, the Joint Undertaking that leads large-scale investments and HPC provision in Europe. Context And Mission
The Barcelona Supercomputing Center's Data Visualization and Analytics group is looking for a research lead on AI applied to science. The goal of this position is to lead the research and projects on the Industrial Data Science line, interacting with other lines to complement and finish applied research into current industry problems: advanced manufacturing and factory operation, AI-powered digital services, and extraction, processing, and modeling of unstructured information to improve efficiency.
The candidate will join the currently ongoing projects, guiding their correct progress and interacting with all the technical leads of the group as well as with external partners and providers. Furthermore, the candidate will participate and actively work on finding and securing funding for future projects.
Key Duties Define AI strategy and research for industry. Lead the research of the group projects related to this area. Advise younger researchers and engineers in the group. Take a lead role in identifying and securing new funding opportunities. Find applications of the research in the problems led by the urban, interactive, and arts research lines. Lead and coordinate the writing of reports and deliverables. Requirements Education
PhD Degree in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or technology-related field. Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
Experience with AI and advanced statistical models applied to science and industry. Experience working and managing applied data science projects. Experience in leading and managing a research team. Strong initiative to carry on multidisciplinary research projects. Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
Fluency in English is essential. Proficiency in Spanish and other European languages would be advantageous. Experience teaching and disseminating technology. Broad experience in different technological fields. Competences
Ability to work in a team and in a multi-cultural environment. Excellent communication skills, especially for producing documentation. Conditions The position will be located at BSC within the CASE Department. We offer a full-time contract (37.5h/week), a good working environment, flexible working hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance. Duration: 4 years. Holidays: 23 paid vacation days plus 24th and 31st of December. Salary: 55,000€. Additional Expenses Grant: Each fellowship will be associated with a grant for additional expenses.
