You are here:Home > Research technician at the Epigenetic and events in cancerResearch technician at the Epigenetic and events in cancerThe Institute The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is an international biomedical research institute of excellence, based in Barcelona, Spain, with more than 400 scientists from 44 countries.
The CRG is composed of an interdisciplinary, motivated and creative scientific team which is supported both by a flexible and efficient administration and by high-end and innovative technologies.
At the 'Epigenetic and events in cancer' lab, we are seeking a highly motivated candidate to join our team to work on an interdisciplinary project related to validating potential therapeutic vulnerabilities in cancer.
The candidate must master several techniques, such as Molecular Biology (general DNA and RNA manipulation techniques including purification, cloning, mutagenesis, PCR, RT-PCR, qPCR).
About the Lab Understanding the genetic basis of cancers has been a topic of intense research, and hundreds of gene mutations have been identified that can cause carcinogenesis.
However, in the past few years, increasing evidence has suggested that mutations are not the only genetic changes that lead to cancer.
Indeed, perturbations of chromatin structure and other epigenetic mechanisms can cause inappropriate gene expression and genomic instability, resulting in cellular transformation and malignant outgrowth.
Our research investigation is focused on understanding the role of several protein complexes that are involved in chromatin dynamics and metabolism, which when altered could participate in the establishment and maintenance of the aberrant silencing of tumor suppressor genes during transformation.
