.Research Scientist in Computational Neuroscience and Machine Learning Telefonica Innovación Digital - Discovery Research is a leading industrial research lab based in Barcelona (Spain). The aim of the lab is to carry out disruptive research that addresses several technological areas of interest to the Telefónica Group. The Scientific Research group follows an open research model in collaboration with universities and other research institutions, promoting the dissemination of their work both through publications and technology transfers. The lab consists of a multi-disciplinary team with a wide ambit of expertise, including Machine Learning, Networks, Complex Systems, Privacy/Security, Information Retrieval, Cognitive Science and Human-Computer Interaction. We are seeking candidates at all levels of seniority for staff researcher positions, to strengthen our efforts in the respective areas.MissionThe researcher will have the opportunity to propose and develop research ideas individually, as well as jointly with members of the research team, and Telefonica at large. The researcher will also strengthen their research profile via the creation and leading of high-value synergies with academic institutions, industrial partners, customers, and government agencies. Furthermore, the researcher will support the dissemination of research results by means of high-quality publications and talks in major venues worldwide, generation of intellectual property, and partnership with business units to ensure the successful exploitation of research outputs.Project-specific responsibilitiesDesign and conduct research projects that bridge neuroscience and artificial intelligence (e.G., BCI).Develop computational models of neural systems using deep learning, reinforcement learning, and/or neuromorphic AI techniques inspired by biological neural networks.Design, plan and execute in a timely manner lab-based, controlled experiments for data acquisition and subsequent analysis.General responsibilitiesPropose and develop disruptive research ideas for advancing the state of the art in the respective field of their expertise.Create and lead long-lasting and high-value synergies with academic institutions, industrial partners, customers, and government agencies.Promote the dissemination of research results via high-quality publications and demonstrations in major venues worldwide.Partner with business (and other Telefonica) units to ensure the successful exploitation of research outputs.Supervise interns and collaborate openly with other researchers, as well as other Telefonica employees.Pursue funding opportunities for personnel and/or equipment and/or research visits, via proposal writing and submission for National and/or European and/or International competitive grants.QualificationsPh.D. in Computational Neuroscience, Computational Psychology, Physics, or any related fields
