We promote Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, fostering an environment where each and every one of us is appreciated for who we are, regardless of our differences.Context And MissionThe Critical and Autonomous Systems (CAOS) group at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center carries out research on system level software for critical embedded systems in charge of controlling critical application software in domains like automotive, avionics, and space. Our work is mainly carried out in the context of bilateral projects with several companies in the embedded world as well as several European-funded projects.We are looking for a talented and motivated Research Engineer to join CAOS research efforts in the area of timing analysis of MPSoCs for the automotive domain, with special focus on the Infineon AURIX family of processors. The candidate is meant to develop techniques that leverage hardware event monitoring and tracing support in the underlying MPSoC to improve software timing estimates.Key DutiesSketch, design and implement a testing environment that enables a fast exploration and prototyping of contention-aware task-to-core and data-to-memory mapping techniques.Develop API and wrappers to efficiently manage event monitoring and tracing (e.g. MCDS) hardware in the underlying target, with the goal of improving software timing estimates.Develop techniques that exploit timing information that can be extracted from the underlying tracing solution to improve timing estimates for critical applications.RequirementsEducationMaster's Degree on Computer Science or Communication EngineeringEssential Knowledge and Professional ExperienceDemonstrated practical experience working in AURIX TC2X or TC3X processorsDemonstrated experience working with tracing solutions (e.g. MCDS) on AURIX processorsAdditional Knowledge and Professional ExperienceExperience in statistical analysis is a plusExperience on software drivers is a plusCompetencesProblem-solving, proactive, collaborative, and result-oriented work attitudeGood communication skills including proficiency in English (both written and spoken)ConditionsThe position will be located at BSC within the Computer Sciences DepartmentWe offer a full-time contract (37.5h/week), a good working environment, flexible working hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, support to the relocation proceduresDuration: Open-ended contract due to technical and scientific activities linked to the project and budget durationHolidays: 23 paid vacation days plus 24th and 31st of December per our collective agreementSalary: we offer a competitive salary commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate and according to the cost of living in BarcelonaStarting date: 01/02/2025Applications procedure and processAll applications must be made through BSC website and contain:A full CV in English including contact detailsA Cover Letter with a statement of interest in English, including two contacts for further references - Applications without this document will not be consideredIn accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process.DeadlineThe vacancy will remain open until a suitable candidate has been hired.
