It houses MareNostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe, and is now hosting entity for EuroHPC JU. The mission of BSC is to research, develop and manage information technologies to facilitate scientific progress. BSC combines HPC service provision and R&D into both computer and computational science under one roof, and currently has over 1000 staff from 60 countries.Context And Mission The Barcelona Supercomputing Center's Data Visualization and Analytics group is looking for a data scientist specialized in AI. The candidate will work as a data scientist across five research lines, applying AI and advanced statistical methods to various problems including advanced manufacturing, digital services, and urban planning. The candidate will also work on procuring funding for future projects.Key DutiesData exploration and preparation.Engage with end users and domain experts to capture key components of a problem.Exploratory modeling (architecture design, pipeline design).Visualization and presentation of preliminary results.Advise younger researchers and engineers in the group.Help write reports, deliverables, and research proposals.RequirementsEducation Masters or PhD Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or technology-related field.Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience Experience with AI and advanced statistical models applied to science and industry.Experience working on applied data science projects.Strong AI programming experience, preferably in Python.Strong initiative to carry on research and development independently.Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in Spanish and other European languages would be advantageous.Experience in the application fields of the group's projects.Competences Ability to work in a team and in a multi-cultural environment.Excellent communication skills, especially for producing documentation (reports, manuals, papers).ConditionsThe position will be located at BSC within the CASE Department.We offer a full-time contract (37.5h/week), a good working environment, flexible working hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, and private health insurance.Duration: 4 years.Holidays: 23 paid vacation days plus 24th and 31st of December per our collective agreement.Salary: 42,000.00€.Additional Expenses Grant: Each fellowship will be associated with a grant for additional expenses, such as IT equipment, travel, training, stays, etc.Starting date: asap - the incorporation for this vacancy must be before the 16th of December 2024
