The mission of the Research Business Development Manager Europe (RBDM) is to create institutional demand for Beckman Coulter's Research Use assays for neurodegenerative diseases and companion instruments that can assist in the discovery of new and novel therapeutics to address diseases like Alzheimer's Disease. The RBDM will establish and position Beckman Coulter's Research Use Only (RUO) assays that best align with research and core labs for drug and therapeutics discovery. The RBDM will work to achieve this mission by engaging with principal investigators (PIs), Core Directors, and Reference Lab Directors at top research and academic institutions to align Beckman Coulter research solutions with institutional research strategy, goals, and KPIs.This position is part of the European organization and will be based remotely in the UK or Spain with approximately 75% travel throughout Europe; therefore, it is important to be located close to an international airport. You will be responsible for creating institutional demand for Beckman Coulter's Research Use Only assays for neurodegenerative diseases and companion instruments that can assist in the discovery of new and novel therapeutics to address diseases like Alzheimer's Disease. If you thrive in a dynamic and entrepreneurial new role and want to work to build a world-class IVD organization—read on.The essential requirement of the job includes:Gather and pursue leads from Neurology conferences and congresses.Develop the network of thought leaders in research of new neurodegenerative biomarkers.Build a solid funnel of opportunities with Research Institutes, University Hospitals, and Commercial Labs across Europe.Present the value proposition of RUO Neuro biomarkers from Beckman Coulter.Generate proposals for customers, negotiate terms with customers, close the sales process, and get contracts signed.The RBDM will make the initial customer presentation and arrange technical meetings with Applications Scientists as necessary. The RBDM will develop and maintain customer relationships, will be a self-starter with keen attention to detail, ability to learn information and apply it to novel situations, and a proven track record of contribution in a team environment.Qualifications & Experience:Bachelor's Degree with 9+ years of experience, 7+ years of experience with a Master's degree or Ph.D. with 3 years selling research use only (RUO) within research and academic institutions.Entrepreneurial Mindset and experience building a book of business from scratch.This individual should have a strong understanding of the discovery and development process for neurodegenerative modalities upstream and downstream plus a strong understanding of the analytical lab ecosystem.Have strong commercial skills while maintaining the ability to partner with service and marketing to maximize value and efficiencies by understanding the customer's specific processes.Strong contracting skills in generating proposals, negotiating terms, and closing the deal, as well as working with finance and other business partners. Solid forecasting skills to ensure targeted demand planning both internally and externally.Analytical and fact-based and able to draw on knowledge and experience at Research Accounts in predevelopment and development of neurodegenerative therapeutics whilst focusing on achieving results.Preferred Experience:Experience selling similar products in academia, pharma, and research.Experience preferred with research use only laws, regulations, and guidelines.Experience with change management/performance improvement efforts.At Beckman Coulter Diagnostics, we believe in designing a better, more sustainable workforce.
