.CREAF is seeking a postdoctoral researcher for the STOIKOS project (Elemental ecology: towards an element-based functional ecology), with ref. — STOIKOS — ERC--STG, funded by the European Research Council, and the ECOFONTS project (The Mediterranean spring ecosystems are in serious danger due to global change). This long-term project will monitor 90 springs distributed throughout the Catalan territory to study the changes affecting these ecosystems.The project aims to investigate whether the elemental composition of organisms relates to ecosystem functioning, and whether ecosystem elemental diversity predicts ecosystem functioning better than traditional metrics of diversity. The candidate will join the Elemental Diversity and Macroecology research team (https://elemdiv.Netlify.App/), a multidisciplinary working team using observations, experiments, and theoretical modelling to answer our scientific questions.The candidate will benefit from the training and career development opportunities offered through our research team and CREAF, exposure to international research, and interaction with other national and international collaborators. A full-time contract is offered (37.5 hours per week), with a planned incorporation on October 1st, and until the end of the STOIKOS project. The contract may be extended if new funding compatible with this position is granted to the research team. The candidate will work for the STOIKOS project 80% of their time, and 20% for the ECOFONTS project.
