Data Protection Counsel Responsibilities : Analyse data-related projects and initiatives to provide practical legal advice across multiple jurisdictions.
Provide support to business and compliance teams on data protection laws and accountability and governance requirements.
Contribute to and support data protection training and compliance programs.
Monitor and respond to developments in privacy and information security (i.E., new laws, regulations, important judgements, regulatory guidance, etc.).
Minimum Qualifications : Solicitor or barrister (qualified to practice law in at least one European jurisdiction).
Minimum of 4 years of relevant legal experience, including at a law firm or prior in-house experience (applicable litigation, commercial law or regulatory experience will be considered).
In-depth knowledge of legal issues in the area of the operation of online social media platforms including an excellent understanding of data protection law.
Strong multi-tasking, attention to detail and organisational skills.
Ability to assess legal, practical and business risks quickly and accurately, as well as thrive in a fast-paced environment and make sound judgments under tight deadlines.
Excellent problem-solving, written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to find practical and creative solutions and provide concise and business-focused legal advice.
Keen interest in data protection and technology.
Preferred Qualifications : Experience advising clients on risk assessment and mitigation across technology product platforms.
Prior experience working with internet or technology companies a plus.
Experience working within a global legal team.
Knowledge of, or fluency in, other European languages is a plus.
