What to expectOrca is building a modern navigation system for sailors and cruisers. We are growing quickly, have an exciting journey ahead, and are looking for a Quality Engineer to join our team. This position will play a crucial role in the success of Orca.
As a Quality Engineer, you will have the opportunity to ensure that millions of recreational boaters are delighted when using Orca. You will do that by raising Orca's execution to excellence. The ideal candidate has the technical acumen to define quality processes that ensure operational excellence, communicate effectively with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders, has excellent time management abilities, and is passionate about having an impact on users. To succeed at Orca, you must be energetic, highly organized, and hard-working.
What You'll DoYou are accountable for raising the quality of the Orca navigation system to excellence. In particular:
Ensure that product releases are successful, where success is measured in user satisfaction - must be high - and time and effort - must be low.Create a laboratory that allows you to simulate and replicate the behaviors of real boaters.Implement and manage a test automation framework to validate product updates.Set up and maintain a group of users that can help test and verify Orca products and updates - external beta groups.Define and implement a process to record, track, and prioritize errors and issues found in the releases.Collaborate with Engineering and Product Management to achieve your goals.Be an ambassador for quality best practices across the organization.Design and execute processes to ensure operational excellence in designing, developing, and delivering hardware and software products to millions of boaters globally.This role is a hybrid/on-premise role at our Madrid or Oslo office. The startup nature of the team provides many different opportunities for you to make an impact and develop yourself.
What You'll Bring3+ years of experience being accountable for the quality of consumer-facing products with global outreach.You have very high execution standards and have an eye for quality.You are familiar with test automation frameworks for mobile.You uphold great engineering standards around testing, documentation, and maintainability.Excellent communication, collaboration, reporting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.You drive autonomy, proactivity, and ownership. About the TeamYou will be joining a small and close-knit team of industry veterans. We've been working in this space for years and have several successful startups behind us. Our core experience is product development, software, and hardware engineering.
