.SummaryYou will serve as a QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (SHIPBUILDING) in the QA Department of FWD DEPLOYED REG MAINT CTR DET ROTA.This position will monitor the nondestructive testing (NDT) and welding programs of contractor performed maintenance, and will train and certify FDRMC personnel to oversee the contractor performance of the NDT and welding processes.This job is open toFederal employees - Competitive serviceCurrent or former competitive service federal employees.Internal to an agencyCurrent federal employees of this agency.Career transition (CTAP, ICTAP, RPL)Federal employees who meet the definition of a "surplus" or "displaced" employee.VeteransIndividuals with disabilitiesMilitary spousesSpecial authoritiesIndividuals eligible under a special authority not listed above, but defined in the federal hiring regulations.Family of overseas employeesFamily members of a federal employee or uniformed service member who is or was, working overseas.Land & base managementCertain current or former term or temporary federal employees of a land or base management agency.DutiesYou will develop quality control measures for non-nuclear work (analysis of nondestructive testing or welding, steam plant cleanliness, calibration processes for specialized equipment, certification of work review operations).You will identify quality improvements based on lessons learned from audits, investigative analyses, or special studies.You will analyze nondestructive testing (NDT) or welding operations to develop quality control measures for certification of non-nuclear work.You will monitor contractor performance against contract specifications (e.G., pipe fitting, welding, coating and corrosion control, hull structure fit-up).You will evaluate shipyard instructions, procedures, and processes for compliance with radiation safety program requirements and policies.RequirementsMust be a US Citizen.Must be determined suitable for federal employment.Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level.This is an overseas position. You will be subject to and must be able to satisfy the overseas requirements.This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States.If eligible for permanent change of station, the appointee will be required to sign a transportation agreement.Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.May be required to obtain a VISA dependent on the overseas country's laws/regulations.You will be required to sign the Statement of Understanding for Overseas Employment
