Locations: Remote position in either Spain, Germany, France, Poland or Netherlands.

Responsible as a member of the Strategy & Portfolio Innovation team to shape the strategic direction of the Built Environment business, with a strong focus on identifying and leading business-level initiatives and new business opportunities in EMEA. Serves as advisor to the leadership team and supports the business leaders. Conducts environmental scans, identifies, analyzes, and plans for emerging opportunities and disruptive trends transforming the business. Responsible for market intelligence monitoring, market research, and knowledge management.

Responsibilities: Performs market scans with a long-term view. Analyzes and interprets market research and intelligence to identify growth opportunities. Conducts industry, market, competitive, and stakeholder intelligence research and analyses. Researches possible growth opportunities related to new business services, new science/technology, and new industries. Provides recommendations to the leadership team. Drives the development of strategic plans for the opportunities that have been selected for further pursuit. Provides training and mentoring to UL colleagues in various businesses on topics and techniques related to strategy, particularly with respect to corporate-wide or industry best practices. Works with leadership on the management of overall business strategy and long-range planning activities. Supports initiatives led by other members of the team, including but not limited to market intelligence, M&A, and penetration of new regions. Project manages strategy initiatives as needed. Conducts appropriate due diligence to ensure the reliability of information provided by potential acquisitions targets. Performs other duties as directed. Minimum Requirements: University degree (Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree) in Business Administration, Strategy, or Strategic Marketing; or minimum 8 years equivalent related experience. Experience in the built environment market and/or fire & life safety compliance is a plus. Advanced degree (Equivalent to a Master's degree) preferred. Ability to handle multiple projects with proven success in synthesizing large data sets related to a wide variety of functional business problems. Demonstrated ability to express complex ideas, present results, and translate business terminology to various levels of management. Demonstrated strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
