Kantar Media is seeking a Data Steward to join our technology function.
The role could be based globally.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The data steward will take ownership of data within the organization, working with cross-functional teams to create best practices and policies on data management and governance.
Understand the contractual framework and requirements our business operates in.
Define how data is stored, classified, labeled, and curated.
Classify data with multi-layer classification depending on the type of data and stage in the data processing workflow.
Label (tag) data assets to make them discoverable and searchable.
Curate data to describe how to make use of it and enable self-serviced analytics.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure data is used effectively and efficiently.
Introduce a 'Data First' strategy, promoting the use of data throughout the company and enabling smart solutions or self-serve platforms.
Maintain quality, usability, and availability of master and metadata on a daily basis.
Implement practical rules according to the company's data security principles.
Maintain data profiles and business metadata, tag and label data elements in business semantics, and create data vocabularies across the organization.
Define data categories and their associated rules, labeling each category with unique keywords for rule application.
Understand technical metadata and ensure changes comply with organizational data governance rules.
Own and lead data retention and data resilience services, working with technology to develop necessary tooling.
Support the wider team in third-party assessments, internal and external audits.
Demonstrate a passion for learning new data-focused technologies, including data science and cloud storage.
