Offer DescriptionTHE POSITION The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is currently looking to recruit a Junior Group Leader in Quantitative Cell Biology. The successful applicant will use multidisciplinary approaches to address fundamental questions on important biological processes aiming for a mechanistic and quantitative understanding of cell organisation and function by bridging scales - from molecules to organelles, cells, tissues or organisms. We especially welcome applications in areas that synergise with current research in the programme, or broaden its scope into new areas, such as for example evolutionary cell biology or structural cell biology.
The newly established group will receive generous core-funding and will join the Quantitative Cell Biology Program, with the option of a joint affiliation with another CRG Program (Genome Biology; Systems and Synthetic Biology; Computational Biology and Health Genomics) and/or to the Barcelona Collaboratorium for Modelling and Quantitative Biology. Translational aspects will be positively considered but do not have to be the primary research aim.
THE INSTITUTE The CRG is a core-funded interdisciplinary institute with strengths encompassing genomics, systems, computational, cell and molecular biology. It is located at the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB) with six other research institutes, including the newly created Outstation of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL). The CRG consists of 400 scientists and is organised into five research programmes supported by high-end core technologies covering proteomics, genomics, bioinformatics, microscopy, FACs, iPSCs and organoids, and protein expression, and with access to the cryo-electron microscopy facility at the ALBA synchrotron. The CRG hosts one of the two nodes of the European Genome-phenome Archive (EGA, https://ega-archive.org) and is affiliated to the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST, https://bist.eu).
The Junior Group Leader position comes with a 5-year contract renewable for a total of 9 years, subject to successful external peer review, and structural funding to cover salaries and consumables for up to three people depending on their qualifications. We offer an equipped laboratory and office space for 7-9 people with access to cutting-edge core technologies (Core Technologies).
