Assignment Description
Project Engineering Manager plans and directs all design engineers, drafters, and technical engineers working on Capital Projects. Manages the development, implementation, and evaluation of complex designs across engineering disciplines to complete process improvement and plant expansion projects. Project Engineering Manager will evaluate and approve changes that substantially impact the scope, budget, or schedule of a project. This position will also support Business Development as needed in screening and evaluating the feasibility of potential opportunities from a scope definition, planning, and cost standpoint to control impact to existing facilities.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions Lead the Capital Project discipline engineering team to develop and execute capital projects including providing vision and strategic leadership, monitoring project schedules and budgets, evaluating project productivity and quality and directing the complete technical operations of the project.
Assume full responsibility for the successful execution of each assigned project for schedule compliance, budget compliance and scope and quality of deliverables.
Build relationships and coordinate with project personnel.
Coordinate with various stakeholders in an active plant to successfully execute projects.
Ensure input and job requirements are adequately addressed and implemented consistently within requirements.
Provide input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility.
Plan and identify upcoming tasks, potential problem areas, technical information, staffing priorities and identify solutions where necessary.
Perform field walk downs and data collection. Position necessitates field activities, some climbing and occasional travel.
Develop new business opportunities as a by-product of relationship with client.
Ensure strict compliance with the Management of Change Process.
Lead the development and continuous improvement of the Capital Project Execution Work Process.
Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment Must be able to wear all necessary PPE equipment to perform job functions.
Operates in a professional office environment within or outside of an industrial plant.
Possible exposure to indoor and outdoor weather conditions.
Possible exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid or windy weather conditions.
Possible exposure to moving mechanical parts and electrical circuits.
Possible exposure to constant, or intermittent sounds of a pitch level sufficient to cause marked distraction.
Routinely uses standard office and field communications equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers w/scanner and fax, and radios.
Physical Demands Ability to drive to other Company work locations as required.
Ability to move throughout all areas of the facility.
Stand and/or sit continuously and perform job functions for a full shift.
Incumbent required to use hands to finger, handle/feel and reach with hands/arms.
Physically able to walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, climb, balance, crouch, handle and move items weighing up to 20 lbs. without assistance.
Visual acuity corrected to perform job functions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this role, incumbent will be required to talk and hear.
May be required to enter confined spaces.
May be required to work at elevated heights.

Ability to coordinate and work on multiple projects at once.
Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail.
High knowledge of Excel and Microsoft suites.
Duration Long-term
Location This position will travel to off-site locations as required. Travel to headquarters and contractor offices in Houston will be required weekly.
