Due to expansion in our Built Environment team in UK (Warrington) / Spain (Barcelona), we are seeking an Engineer/Engineering Project Associate with Fire Protection (Steel Protection) experience. Reporting to the Engineering Leader, you will autonomously manage the execution and timely completion of Fire Protection projects by:
Analyzing project scope and determining project specifications.Establishing test programs for product investigations.Preparing reports for clients as part of the Built Environment business.The ideal candidate would be someone who is keen to work for an international company such as UL Solutions, to explore the experience of corporate business. This role will be supporting the growing team in the EMEA region with incentives to travel to different manufacturing sites and testing facilities globally. You will be working with global engineers to gain a better understanding of different areas of work from testing to European test standards and also to support the team with third-party certification.
Key Responsibilities: Determine project scope, develop a preliminary plan of investigation, and determine project specifications such as cost, time, and sample requirements by analyzing client input, available supplemental data, and product construction. Projects may include frequent travel to conduct or witness tests at client sites.Initiate communication with clients to promote and explain the benefits of new and existing services. Follow up on contacts from clients. Discuss technical issues, explain UL procedures and requirements, convey project cost, and negotiate completion date and sample requirements.Act to address client concerns and resolve client issues. Provide technical assistance to clients in reference to product inspection and follow-up services.Establish appropriate test programs by reviewing files and manufacturer's information, examining samples, and applying UL requirements. Notify clients of any areas in which the product is not in compliance with UL requirements or of any changes in project scope or specifications.Witness tests and off-site manufacturer witness tests.Coordinate laboratory activities by preparing data sheets and instructions to technicians, scheduling and reviewing work of Laboratory Technicians and support staff, and establishing completion dates.Communicate project status and results to clients through frequent contact and by preparing reports.Integrate continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job.Resolve engineering issues associated with Variation Notices by analyzing and reporting on the acceptability of the variations.Propose development of new and/or revised UL requirements. Develop special test methods and test equipment.Coordinate and/or perform File Reviews.
