A leading food manufacturer in the Nyack/Tarrytown, NY area is seeking an on-site Production Supervisor - Industrial Kitchen Services, high-volume industrial bakery team. This is a critical leadership position in the Company and reports to the VP of Operations. The Production Supervisor leads a workforce of approximately fifty while meeting production, quality, safety, and process improvement objectives.
Responsibilities:
Provide consistent follow-up ensuring proper procedures are followed and documented.
Has a continuous improvement mindset, and actively seeks to improve production methods, equipment performance, safety standards and quality of products.
Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced production environment.
Responsible for meeting key performance indicators (KPIs) in areas such as productivity, quality, safety, and cost control.
Must monitor and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's)
Ensure all production activities comply with OSHA standards and other regulatory requirements.
Follow schedule and ensure work assignments are completed to quality and safety specifications.
Train employees, offer praise and accountability, address complaints and resolve problems, and evaluate performance.
Oversee and review all required paperwork, reports, and documentation.
Lead by example to ensure safe working practices are followed.
Work collaboratively with peer department leaders: Quality, Packaging, Maintenance, and Warehouse.
Ensure proper up-keep of equipment; address and resolve problems, initiate work orders for repairs.
Knowledge of JIT, TQM, Lean Manufacturing and TOC a plus
Qualifications and Experience:
Completion of a 4–year degree – Engineering, Business, Food Science or Culinary is preferred.
2+ years of successful, hands on, leadership experience within a food manufacturing environment.
Prior leadership experience in food manufacturing is required.
Demonstrated ability to supervise and mentor both hourly production and salaried associates
Good working knowledge of food production equipment such as mixers, fillers, ovens, and packaging equipment.
Experience with automation or working in environments with significant automation is a plus.
Working knowledge of process controls and industry standards.
Familiarity of SQF, HACCP, GMP, allergen, & traceability and other compliance requirements of a food manufacturing site.
Willingness and ability to resolve problems.
Positive and professional communication and customer service skills. Ensure capabilities to meet market needs and support profitable growth of the products produced by the facility.
Competent with computers – accustomed to working in an MS Office environment and competent in Excel.
Good Organization and Time Management Skills.
