Purpose Responsible for the execution of seed production with the objective to have the right seeds delivered of the right quality and quantity, at the right time and right price with a high reliability and efficiency.
Key accountabilities Responsible for crop monitoring from stock seed to harvest to ensure seed production at agreed quality, quantity, price and time.
Responsible for operational management of the supplier through weekly and monthly reporting, review of crop results and crop management.
Advise and align on crop treatment to obtain maximum quality, planned quantity and at agreed price/ costs.
Ensure all phytosanitary and quality protocols are followed and all certifications and administration performed timely.
Ensure all seed batches are evaluated timely on quality and quantity and that the required actions in the settlement process are completed timely.
Signal and take action in alignment with the crop production manager, contract manager or settlement team or finance as required.
Responsible for the execution and monitoring of operational activities to ensure the production orders are executed according to plan and the best adherence to plan is achieved.
Responsible for the Latest Estimate (LE) regarding running productions in the Enza ERP system and where required in the planning system (in alignment with the Production Planner).
Communication to other stakeholders on expected seed availability is a responsibility of the planner.
Be the main contact between Enza Zaden and the supplier and responsible for the alignment with the supplier with regard to: Capacity reservation Proposed production program Delivery and shipment plan of stock seeds to the producer (including priority handling) Delivery and shipment plan from producer including priority handling (e.g., harvesting or processing at supplier) Responsible for crop production protocols and quality assurance for the following processes and areas: seed handover from R&D to SO, seed quality testing results analysis, seed hygiene (e.g.
GSPP), phytosanitary regulations, field inspection and certifications (e.g.
NAFI), and others.
Also responsible to ensure suppliers follow quality protocols.
Ensure internal and external quality assurance requirements are met for the crop scope.
Ensure individual certification (e.g.
NAFI) is completed timely.
Preparation and execution for all audits, engage with auditors as requested.
Ensure all administrative work prior and post audit is completed and all issues reviewed and action remediation plan defined and implemented.
Management of the physical stockseed inventory in relation to quality and (virtual) warehouse positions at batch level.
Management of the re-germination tests.
Management of the actual total inventory in (virtual) warehouse, also including changes in phyto regulation or quality standards.
Perform Stock seed receiving protocol, Stock seed quality classification (parcer) settings and mapping to producer requirements.
Responsible for the seed quality and seed producibility during seed production stages to ensure key performance is met on quality, quantity, cost and timing for the defined set of crops, crop segments and varieties.
Evaluation, monitoring and tracking of varieties from a production and seed operations perspective for each product development stage from R2 through to CD/RD to ensure seed quality and producibility can deliver the final product requirements, including regulatory requirements and internal margin targets.
Proactive contribution to the Operational Seed Supply Team on production topics, led by the Crop Production Manager: Contribution to production topics in the operational seed supply teams.
Responsible for timely follow up of actions items defined in the SST, with focus on seed availability and quality.
Provision of timely input to the production planner on details as required for the correct input and actions for the operational seed supply meetings.
Preparation of information and analysis on the crop quality and seed producibility for variety stages (e.g.
readiness to move from EX to CI), ensure follow up action carried out together with cross functional colleagues and/or the suppliers.
Preparation of review of production improvement projects as relevant to the seed supply team (e.g.
process, seed quality, seed producibility).
Contribution to the production planning processes to ensure correct and optimal production data and parameters in the systems used (e.g.
ProfiApp, ERP system, planning system).
Is consulted on production planning parameters (recommendation) and spread among producers.
Is consulted on the production planning distribution (among area's/producers) and input on production planning parameters (e.g., BY and TSW).
On request of the Production Planner consulted on stockseed batch allocation.
Delivery of input on production planning master data tables (As per DSCP master data table: e.g.
Production indicators, BOD and crop production protocol, Producers and available capacity).
Participation in (cross functional) projects as a project member, and sometimes as project manager.
Responsible for the execution of activities defined which can range from data analysis, insights and process improvements to testing new seed protocols, seed producibility, production of hygiene methods or the activities from projects associated from the business case ideas mentioned in key responsibility #3.
Main internal contacts Crop segment teams, Crop Breeding Managers and Breeders - Follow up on all open actions and exchange of information on seed production and variety flow.
Active contribution (insight, advice and sometimes decision) to crop segment teams, clear input to agenda and contact with Crop Breeding Managers.
Ensure cross functional alignment for preparation to next level management review and processes.
Seed Supply teams, Supply Chain Managers, Global Portfolio Managers - Follow up on all open actions and exchange of information on seed production and variety flow.
Active preparation of production input, clear analysis to enable decisions for production plans and clear variety progress to next phases (producibility and scale up).
Global Manager Production, Crop Production Managers, Production Specialists, Production Planner - Report, discuss, escalate, develop.
Active participation in monthly production meetings and in weekly/monthly crop production team meetings.
Team Lead Applications, Team Lead Customer Service and Team Lead Processing, Team Lead Production Support - Contact for operational tasks to be performed by labs/support and define follow up actions.
Timely obtain all and review all reports.
Act on operational issues, escalate issues to managers.
Contract Manager and settlements team - Provide key input and align on actions.
Ensure all timely control and follow up of contract and production orders and prepare reviews for settlements.
Operational contact in weekly/seasonal contract flow.
Provide key input to supplier review.
Seed Technology, Researchers (including Seed Technology Research, I&D DataLab, and Seed Producibility departments) - Collaborate on projects.
Tracking of progress.
Technical discussions and exchange of expertise for defining objectives and realistic goals.
Internal seed production locations (e.g.
SO sites or R&D sites, operational management or supervisors, administrative employees) - Active and regular contact with producers to ensure proper crop management to deliver seeds on time at the right quality.
Ensure all operational protocols followed.
Define and monitor improvement actions.
Trade Compliance Manager and Officers - Obtain direction and ask advice, provide input and collaborate.
Goal to ensure all actions defined for all changes in phytosanitary and crop protection regulations.
Ensure implementation in Enza and at all 3rd party producers.
ERP Competence Center - Obtain advice or instructions on system improvements or changes, provide input to the same.
If involved in a project, weekly and monthly updates.
Data, Analytics and Reporting team - Report request and maintenance, receive advice on data, provide input to data quality.
Main external contacts Suppliers, typically functions of site or farm manager, agricultural specialist, shipping department - Review of running operations and tasks to be carried out to ensure proper crop management to deliver seeds on time at the right quality.
Ensure all operational protocols followed.
With more senior contacts (site managers) review of the production plan, results and preparation of prices and settlements (some negotiation).
External network: auditors of certification or regulatory bodies, specialists and colleagues at a congress or meetings in the field of seed productions - Prepare and execute for all audits, engage with auditors.
Participate in external networks and courses to keep up to date on all crop trends and newest techniques.
Ensure up to date on all crop specific agronomic and plant and seed expertise.
