Job Overview and Responsibilities:Solvay Torrelavega is the second largest soda ash production unit of the Solvay Group in Europe. Operating since 1908, the Torrelavega site employs around 400 workers in the production of sodium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate and salt. Reporting to the Soda Ash Production Unit Manager of the site, you will be part of a motivated team where your main tasks will be:
Follow-up production performance and propose initiatives to improve competitiveness.Ensure that process engineering activities comply with HSE policies and regulations.Manage project teams in the domain of Product Quality Assurance.Act as Single Point Of Contact for the implementation of Digital initiatives at site level.Assist the manager in order to realise the production plans, and ensure troubleshooting when necessary.Perform projects in the domain of process improvement and/or development.Act as continuous improvement change agent towards manufacturing excellence.Write documentation about the production process and the facility and impart trainings to the production staff.Monthly report and analysis of data (OEE, technical report, CO2 emissions report, Excellence project report).Assist in the development and implementation of capital investment projects.Interact with other Production Engineers of other Solvay Soda.Education and Experience:- Master's degree in Chemical Engineering (or comparable).
- More than 2 years of experience in operation of chemical plants, knowledge of different unit operations (like distillation, crystallization, filtration, drying...) is an added advantage.
Skills:- Fluent verbal and written in Spanish and English. Knowledge of French language is also desirable.
- Knowledge of current tools for process analysis and optimization (data analysis tools such as JMP or Minitab, office software suites).
- Knowledge in Process Automation (automatic control, DCS) from a user perspective.
- Ability to communicate orally and in written at all levels.
- Demonstrated initiative and resourcefulness with the ability to work independently.
- Team spirit in order to collaborate with other members of the production unit and other plant departments.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Achievement driven, collaborative and proactive.
- Available for international travel.
