As they enter a period of sustained growth, the client we represent has identified the need to change the way they buy.Providing engineering services and products to the built environment, one of the business' key costs is in purchasing.
Historically, branches have been afforded a high level of autonomy in their purchasing decisions, highlighting an opportunity for transformation.As the Procurement Director, your mission will be to design and implement this centralised strategy, driving efficiency, integrity, and cost advantages.Reporting directly to the Iberia General Manager, you will manage a team of staff, split across Direct and Indirect Procurement.
Leading with empathy and diplomacy, you'll guide them through this transformation journey.
You'll also collaborate with internal stakeholders to review and consolidate their extensive list of suppliers and subcontractors, bringing about improved governance and control.Who will succeed in this role:Degree qualified, you will exhibit the following behaviours:Experience leading procurement and supplier management activities, driving excellence in procurement practices and optimising supplier relationships.Extensive knowledge and understanding of procurement strategies, processes, and frameworks.Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to engage, negotiate and manage key stakeholders, suppliers, and subcontractors.Track record of leading successful contract negotiations with suppliers and subcontractorsExternal awareness, keeping abreast of market dynamics, industry trends and emerging technologies.Responsibilities will include:Design, implement and support a centralised procurement and supplier management strategy, translating business goals into actionable procurement targets.Optimise supplier and subcontractor relationships, fostering strategic partnerships and drive continuous improvement in performance, quality, and cost effectiveness.Develop and nurture relationships with internal stakeholders (local regional) to determine products and service needs.Assume accountability and leadership for all procurement activities including pre-qualification, negotiating supplier agreements, preparation of contracts and tender management.Drive improvement and innovation in procurement processes, supplier performance, purchasing technology and best practice.Lead, manage and resource a team of purchasing professionals, delegating tasks across departments when necessary.Stay abreast of industry trends and provide insights and recommendations to leadership on how best to leverage for the business.
