As Process Engineer reporting to the Engineering & Technology Manager, you will be part of a very dynamic, knowledgeable, target-oriented and engaged team of more than 10 engineers and (bio) chemists. Your overall responsibility is to be the process owner of the areas under your responsibility in terms of quality and efficiency and to lead the design and implementation of production process improvements in Corbion fermentation and downstream/purification. Your area of responsibility can be in any of the different processes/units operated at Corbion Montmeló (acid-base reactions, evaporation, distillation, solid-liquid separation, etc) with a special focus on the fermentation processes (scale-up and industrial).
Responsibilities: Process ownership including evaluation of process data, operators training, protocols and instructions documentation, etc.
Troubleshooting of potential problems that could arise.
Evaluate different options to improve process in terms of safety, sustainability, capacity, efficiency, robustness, etc.
Present the project ideas to the different areas involved and get approval from stakeholders.
Participate as process owner in expansion or maintenance projects.
Bridge between Plant Technology and Engineering (evaluation, screening & design of optimisation ideas) to hand over projects for execution.
Lead implementation of projects under your responsibility.
Collaborate with colleagues from Plant technology team in the process improvement ideas evaluation and troubleshooting of specific issues.
Collaborate with colleagues from Plant technology team in the implementation of optimization ideas.
Support to Plant Technology in trials and start-ups.
Back-up of plant technologists when needed.
Participate or lead multidisciplinary continuous improvement teams.
Requirements: 3 years of experience in process / project engineering or manufacturing in chemical, food or pharma manufacturing environment.
Combined education and/or experience in fermentation processes and chemical engineering is a plus.
Abilities for teamwork & team building.
Hands-on & can do attitude.
Experience in installation, erection or/and revamping of installations.
Accustomed to follow-up projects at field and its start-up.
Accustomed to establish relationships with suppliers of machinery and installation companies.
Proactive, dynamic, and autonomous behavior.
Good command of English (Minimum B2 level).
Basic PRL (*) certificate (50 h).
(*) Spanish law for labor safety prevention.
User level of gPROMS modelling tool is a plus.
