We are seeking an experienced and innovative Privacy by Design Architect to advise business teams across multiple geographies and businesses on implementing effective privacy practices by supporting solution design and participating in reviews to ensure privacy is a core component of the effort to drive optimized experience via trusted intelligence.
The position will strategically work to align Privacy by Design principles at the earliest stages in development and make sure that the accumulation, analysis and actions the business chooses with data meet established regulatory compliance needs. This role will assist in developing new uses of data through programs, reviews and initiatives in the areas of privacy, data protection, governance and security across multiples functions, businesses and geographies. It also includes responsibility for implementing requirements and processes to ensure HP's high ethical standards are met throughout the data use lifecycle.
The Privacy by Design Architect will be responsible for interacting with internal Legal, Compliance, Governance, Security and Data Protection teams, as well as developing metrics to track, demonstrate, and expand compliant data use across our end-to-end data journey. The right candidate will also be required to be an active industry participant and contributor in Privacy forums and organizations. They must be excellent communicators and have an ability to translate the complex into understandable and actionable forms. Additional work may be required in conducting data privacy impact assessments, Transfer Impact Assessment, Artificial intelligence assessments, legitimate interest assessments, information security forensic and gap analysis, and privacy audits engaging subject matter experts from these different dimensions.
Responsibilities:
- Manages interactions with HP Privacy office and HP Information Governance Board to ensure compliance to Privacy by Design and Data Protection principles for HP customer engagement processes and analytics
- Privacy expert to local Data Governance teams and maintains alignment with HP's Information Governance Board
- Identifies areas of improvement in local practices relative to managing data privacy
- Performs regular privacy assessments of operational processes, identifying, and mitigating risks
- Supports Customer Data Management efforts and advancing privacy accountability through effective tools, training and guidance
- Communicates program progress, escalations, and issue analysis to key stakeholders
- Acts as key interface to data science and analytics communities
- Ability to effectively lead Change Management efforts across an organization
- Provide privacy advice and subject matter expertise on organizational projects and strategic initiatives
- Advise business teams on the key elements for implementing effective privacy practices in a digital environment, including data analytics and data governance
- Map business processes involving cross-border data transfer or data access and develop a plan to address upcoming privacy regulations
- Develop plans to monitor compliance with privacy for personal data
- Conduct vendor assessments and privacy risk assessments, identifying risks and recommending mitigations
- Proactively monitor emerging privacy trends, best practices and changes in the regulatory environment, assess impact to the organization and develop and lead solutions to mitigate risk
- Provide advice and recommendations on privacy related matters, particularly with regards to new technologies, innovation, e-commerce, data analytics, digital marketing initiatives and artificial intelligence.
- Participate in design reviews to ensure privacy is core component of design.
Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in business management, Engineering, Law degree (J.D.) or related Data Privacy education and experience
- 8+ years Project or People Management experience
- PMP/PMI certification preferred
- Privacy certification preferred (CIPP-E, CIPP-US, CIPM)
- Familiarity with risk management principles
- >5 years' experience in privacy / data protection
