Wood is recruiting for a Principal Piping Designer to join its Projects – Process and Chemical Team, focusing on engineering, procurement and construction of complex plants in the Chemical, Petrochemical and Energy industries. The position will be based in Madrid office.

Project Responsibilities:
Responsible for improvements in productivity and technical quality
Supervising and coordinating piping work, CAD-2D, PDS, MTO and Stresses and Supports
Coordinating procedures and specifications of piping design
Supervising and approving the key plans and models (PDS) for the Projects
Ensuring the flow of information to and from other disciplines is properly issued or received, in due time and with the minimum quality enabling the work assigned to be done
Coordinating development of Computer Programs in CAD-2D and PDS and reviewing the proper use of electronic filing systems assisted by the PDS coordinator
Responsible for implementation in his or her area of responsibility and/or department and for effectively informing personnel under him/her of the "Principles of Ethics and Conduct of FW Iberia", Safety Policy of FW Iberia, as well as for performing the relevant follow-up work
Supervising implementation plans, piping routing (scope layouts, piping layouts, in general pipeline drawings) and definition of critical lines in the initial stage of the Projects
Supervising Chief Engineers of the Piping Group in changes made to contracts
Monitoring and issuing productivities for the Projects
Coordinating any work subcontracted to other engineering firms
Coordinating with the Piping Group Chief Engineers regarding the personnel required for Projects
Reviewing planning documents with the Group Leaders and Section Coordinators responsible for Projects
Coordinating with Piping Group Chief Engineers and Section Coordinators regarding the notifications made to Project Engineers of deficiencies in data for the Projects
Supervising and coordinating the filing of documents for Projects with Group Leaders and Section Coordinators, as well as keeping this updated until the end of the Project
Distributing work to all the personnel assigned and ensuring they have the information required to do their work
Keeping updated reports on the status and progress of all the project documents assigned, including dates for starting and receiving commentaries on the plans
Approving the plans for piping in the Project
Contributing to and maintaining environmental objectives and goals, in response to the Continuous Improvement of our processes in relation to the Environment
Complying with the requirements and also its Continuous improvement in all our Company activities, to guarantee a position of global performance improvement

Skills / Qualifications:
Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in oil and gas industry with comprehensive hands-on experience in CAD design (i.e. Auto-CAD, Smart Plant 3D, Smart plant Review) with Piping background
High level of drafting skills using AutoCAD, GTX Roster CAD, MS-Office, SP3D & SPR
Excellent computer skills including word processor, spreadsheets and other applications
Experience and detailed knowledge of relevant drafting requirements
Experienced with piping layout and modeling computer programs
Experienced with review of piping bulk deliverables (i.e. General Arrangement Drawings, Detailed module layouts, Isometrics, Piping Support Schedule, etc)
Good general knowledge of the Standard and Codes applicable to drawings prepared for the Oil Industry with multi-discipline drafting functions and specialist in one major discipline e.g. piping
The draftsman shall have good experience in Site verification, As-building activities, Walk through, Interpreting data from 3D Laser scanning etc.
Ability to organise and prioritise work to meet target dates. Strong leadership skills, with written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills
Ability to organize and plan multi-disciplinary design drafting work, to meet deadlines. Familiar Spanish language at native level is mandatory
Good technical team and interpersonal skills
Good command of English language (both written and verbal)
Valid European Work Permit is required.
