Descripción: We are seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic teacher to join our highly successful Primary English Language Development team with immediate effect. The successful applicant will be an inspiring English language acquisition teacher, as well as being able to offer effective curriculum support across the PYP to raise the achievement of our students with English as an additional language. They will be a dynamic communicator who can develop effective relationships with staff, students and parents to impact positively on the inclusive, intercultural ethos of our school and empower students to reach their full potential. Knowledge of the PYP programme is desirable. Roles and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for primary students with special educational needs (SEND), collaborating closely with parents, classroom teachers, and external specialists to establish meaningful learning goals, strategies, and accommodations.
Deliver differentiated instruction and support to students with SEND in inclusive classroom settings, employing a variety of instructional approaches, materials, and technologies to meet the diverse learning needs and preferences of students.
Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where primary students with SEND feel valued, respected, and empowered to participate actively in their learning journey, building confidence, self-esteem, and a sense of belonging.
Conduct ongoing assessments and observations to monitor students' progress, strengths, and areas for growth, and use assessment data to inform instructional planning, intervention strategies, and communication with stakeholders.
Collaborate with subject teachers and pastoral teams to promote an inclusive learning environment where students with SEND are fully integrated and supported in their academic, social, and emotional development.
Establish positive and effective communication channels with parents/guardians of students with SEND, maintaining regular contact to share progress updates, discuss concerns, and collaborate on strategies to support students' learning and well-being.
Stay abreast of current research, best practices, and developments in the field of special education and inclusion, and actively participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in supporting primary students with diverse learning needs.
Contribute to the development and implementation of school-wide policies, practices, and initiatives aimed at fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment that values diversity, respect, and collaboration.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field
Teaching certification/license or equivalent qualification
Experience teaching primary students with special educational needs (SEND), preferably in an international school setting
Strong understanding of inclusive education principles, differentiated instruction, and evidence-based practices in supporting students with diverse learning needs
Knowledge of the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework and experience with the Primary Years Programme (PYP) is desirable
Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment that values diversity, equity, and social-emotional well-being
Fluency in English (additional language proficiency is an asset)
